  1. Photos show more than words on a page. These are a few of thousands taken.

These are all from the first year. It would only worsen from there on out.

  2. >“Was there any need, for example, to shoot the children in front of the women and then shoot the women after that? That happened too. That is sadism. There were officers like that, they liked sadistic things, they liked it when the mothers were screaming or children were screaming – they were really hot for that… to see a child crying “Mummy” or “Daddy”…”

    – Laurence Rees, *The Nazis, A Warning from History*, p. 213, from the interview of Wehrmacht veteran Adolf Buchner

No wars in history match the scale of brutality displayed by the Nazis in Eastern Europe. The closest contenders, Genghis Khan and the Ancient Romans, still never stooped to the level of industrialized slaughter as the Nazis. Between 1941 and 1945, for the people of the Soviet Union, there was no difference between war and genocide.

  3. My cousin has a collection of his family’s war pictures from the German side, he said he noticed that the pictures stopped being taken when the Germans started losing.

  4. What tanks is that in image 3?
Image 6 looks like a Ilyushin DB-3 to me, not a Tupolev.

  5. It’s crazy how advanced the German army was compared to any civilian stuff in the region

  6. 4th picture from the end: *”the Red Army suffers a 142% casualty rate in 1941″*

Can anyone tell me how a >100% casualty rate is possible?

  7. They have a good documentary of Stalingrad on Netflix rn

  8. Alright time to recomment…

Pic 12, is the armband a representation of a medic?

    Pic 18, not a T-26 but a BT series tank like a BT-5/BT-7.

ohh cool a BA-10 in pic three, definitely a cool armoured car.

  9. Pretty sure 18 is a BT-5, not a T-26. Turret might look somewhat similar but the suspension’s a dead giveaway

  10. Jesus Christ. you become so disassociated from victims stories but seeing pictures always hits you. Hearing “a Jewish mother is killed with her 2 children” doesnt hit as hard when youve heard the same story a thousand times but seeing a picture of a mother staring into her own grave while 7 soulless Nazis point rifles at her really hammers in the brutality.

  11. And to this day there are people who support and cherish these monsters…

    It’s just disgusting.
