  1. Ive seen that 2 lads from my area have killed themselves this way this month, found the graphic on a Spanish twitter account, fair to say that Spaniards don’t have the highest opinion of Brits in Ibiza…

  2. Is that a genuine, or sarcastic question? I mean, considering what Spain is known for when British tourists visit, then it’s clear why it happens a lot.

  3. There is a typo, it should say PINTS and not PUNTS. And the number of pints explains it.

  6. Lot of British tourists in Spain, lot of them get drunk and fall off balconies.

    Actually happened to someone in my family back in the nineties, but luckily she wasn’t super high up and only broke an arm.

  7. Probably the high number of uk tourists holidaying there coupled with our drinking culture.

  8. High volume of British tourists, many buildings have balconies due to the weather and climate, combined with alcohol and/or drugs and you get accidents.

  10. Brits make up the largest portion of tourists in Spain and a lot of them go there to party so loads of alcohol and drugs involved.

  11. Assuming that the highest number of young tourists in Spain are Brits and Germans… I cant read spanish, so maybe it already gives figures in proportion to the total numbers, but if not, then it is effectively meaningless.

  12. Other nationalities find different ways to off themselves on holiday. I believe the Germans are notorious for drowning.

  19. The Spanish have a saying: it’s not summer until a British tourist has fallen off a balcony. 😬

  20. I knew a lad that died this way. So sad and so stupid. I really liked him, but I couldn’t say I was surprised it happened based on his antics at home.

  22. Booze and coke, and just a relaxed attitude to risk which is amplified by booze and coke

  23. I’m willing to bet “hold my beer” and “watch this” were said by quite a few Brits before appearing on this list.

  24. We don’t really have balconies in the UK due to climate, and those do have will be built to a higher height and so safe etiquette isn’t drilled into us from a young age.

  25. Note the low fatality rate for UK, ES, IE, and NL meaning that those 4 have got the art down to a (mostly surviveable) tee

  26. Drink too much, plus there’s loads of us, we have the 4th largest population in Europe and we love traveling to Spain

  28. 30 Years ago I was in Mallorca. The hotel had a pool that was closed off on the evening. At about 2am there was a commotion outside. A load of British tourists had gone into the pool area (drunk). The police were called and they tried rounding them up. One guy ran away but didn’t see the 10 foot drop at the edge and fell down. The ambulance had to be called. The story round the pool the next day was he had broken his neck and was paralysed.

    Lads holidays, lasses breakaways, hen do’s, stag do’s. Ugh. Wish they’d just go to Butlins or whatever scabby ass holiday park they want to vomit over and leave the world alone.

  35. Have you not heard of the great balcony disaster of 2018? 200 dead in an instant and Big Balcony was never held accountable.

    Don’t understand why though – the Brits are number 1, we beat the Germans… surely that should tick all their boxes?

  38. A lot of talk about “drink” I think it is more likely young people going to Ibiza and trying drugs for the first time and over cooking it.

  42. Heh. I actually know one of them. And yes, she fell off the balcony pissed. Almost died but is back on the booze, having learned nothing.

  43. One of my close childhood friends is in that list. i’ve never seen such a packed-out church with such young faces before – taken too soon, like all those represented by these numbers.
