Tory MS Laura Anne Jones defects to Reform

  1. Defections should automatically trigger a by-election really. Although is there a public appetite for more of them?

    Edit: meant by-election, not election.

  2. Anyone want to bet how many more Tories jump ship?

  3. Keep on riding the gravy train like the sentient fartbag she is (allegedly)

  4. Reform or just reformed Tory’s?

They are like triggers broom without the humour or intellect

  5. Why are Reform letting in all these Tory has-beens? This is a surefire way to lose their support in Wales and Scotland.

  6. Rats and a sinking ship. They can see the Tories tanking and don’t want to get off the gravy train 🚂🚂

  7. Astonishingly unambitious, low-standard stuff from them. A Tory under investigation for expense claims.

Are they really going to erode their own hype by just welcoming Tory after Tory? I hope so, but it seems baffling how happy they are to do it. I guess they see it as poaching, but they’re hardly getting the best and brightest, are they. Their own base hate the Tories – not as much as they hate Labour, but still a lot.

  8. Absolute parasite. Same MS who was neck deep in an expenses scandal and was accused of using racial slurs in a WhatsApp chat. She will fit right in

  9. A former Tory who has previously had fraud allegations against her related to misusing expenses. She’ll fit right in.

  10. At this point, Reform is mostly just Tories. Most of their voters are ex Tories, many of their candidates are ex Tories, and many of their actual representatives are ex Tories.

    They’re just rebranded Tories.

  11. This makes sense given that Reform are just a stronger dose of the Tories with somehow more infighting.

  12. Torys are looking like they will get single digit seats, if any, in 2026 with reform as the largest single party, this is a job security jump

  13. So people in Wales who vote Reform are actually just voting Tory? Is that their campaign slogan?

  14. I’m sure Laura is a politician of principle and wouldn’t switch parties to save her own skin, so I’m sure its irrelevant that she was not predicted to hold her seat next year as a Tory candidate (Peter Fox likely to top the Tory list in Torfaen Mynwy and Tories unlikely to get 2 seats there)

  15. Reform has so many Conservatives they should be called new tory.

  16. Whenever this happens their second in their party in that area should take over and they themselves are made to step down and run in the next election.

One person doesn’t get to change the vote of their entire constituency on a whim and put an MS in our government from a party that no one here has voted in. It should automatically go to a deputy, I feel like that’s a very simple thing to enforce rather than letting any one person make such a decision that impacts the whole of wales.
