Sorry Midlands, you’re just not interesting enough.
Glenveagh is beautiful
I’ve hit 4 out of 6. Need to head NW next.
Should read, ‘land not suitable for farming’.
Which is the best is the real question
Midlands not at much
Lacking a lash more really.
I believe that Ireland is the country with the lowest percentage of land given over to National Parks and/or Nature Reserves in Europe. Largely the result of having a powerful farming lobby that is “agin” such things.
it’s a disgrace that so little of our island is national parks and even then they are covered in sheep – it’s a giant farm this island with patches of sitka spruce
I was thinking, this can’t be true…. I was wrong😢
Wouldn’t it be great to have a few dozen more colossal forests instead of flat fucking farmland as far as the eye can see.
The M in ‘Wicklow Mountains’ has some sort of horns. It’s a conspiracy by the Pale against the West.
That’s really cool! I’m over here on holidays and went to Glendalough (Wicklow) today! It’s absolutely beautiful and that’s coming from someone that’s used to the Italian alps!

Fuck all trees
None here in Northern Ireland at all 😣 love Connemara area, used to work in a hunting/fishing lodge in Recess, stunning place.
Too much private land in Ireland
Really want to go on a roadtrip and see all these places
Surprised there’s nothing along the shannon wetlands
And there all in mountainous areas…So lazy national parks.. Surely should be midlands river basin in there. Shannon Callows with restored and natural bogland south of Athlone would be a an example… Else cavan or westmeath lakelands.
Actually I think there was a plan to get UNESCO status for Clonmacnoise, but local Cllrz. had lots of discussion that it might mean 1 less planning permission.
So it’s not farmers agin it…Its us the normal people.
1000 acres of native woodland planted in each county would be a great legacy to leave for future generations. Who wants to start a GoFundMe?
i am american and hike w friends over a week period in summer. 55-75mi in the western USA. the trails are remote. is there anything comparable in ireland? or scotland? tx.
Dia dhuit / Shwmae / Hello!
Welshman here, and a sucker for waterfalls and wildlife!
Could you help guide a celtic brother from another mother as to understand what must see beauty spots there are in your beautiful land?
[Don’t worry, I won’t touch the sheep haha]
Grá mór na Breataine Bige / Cariad fawr o Gymru / Much love from Wales x
Where’s “centre parcs”
The ballycory park is utter wilderness. You can walk it but it’s something like 20 miles of bog and kicking yourself for being so stupid.
How does A certain “musical” user make every last fucking thing an attack on rural Ireland….
