I’ve made a map comparing Raising Cane’s and Zaxbys because both sell the distinct menu item of a box combo – chicken tenders, coleslaw, fries, toast, dipping sauce and a drink
I’m shocked so much of the mountain west doesn’t have a raising cane’s. Seems like their demo.
Strange, I’ve never heard of Raising Cane and I live less then 3 miles from one.
I’ve never heard of zaxbys
Canes is mediocre at best and very overpriced. Zaxby’s is where it’s at.
Groundbreaking and important.
I can say ive eaten at every single raising canes in DC
The battle of the extremely mid chicken chains.
Never heard of either of these.
Indiana is the true battleground state.
As usual, the best flavored food can be found in the south
fun fact- the guy who founded Cane’s currently has a net worth of ~ $17B. All off selling chicken fingers and crinkle fries.
Raising Cane and Zaxby’s taste very similar. And they should since they are both knockoffs of Guthrie’s.
I think Canes headquarters is in Baton Rouge, not Lafayette?
You put Raising Cane’s Headquarters location in Lafayette, which I’m pretty sure is incorrect, it’s located in BR.
Sad to live in a non-gray state. One Cane’s is two too many.
As a Brit who lived in the US a while I miss Zaxbys. 😭
Sorry for the essay, but fast food chicken places are a passion of mine.
For a restaurant that literally only offers chicken fingers, French fries, Texas toast, coleslaw, and their dipping sauce, the chicken and fries at Canes are shockingly bad and expensive. It’s often soggy and has little to no flavor. The Texas toast is good, and their dipping sauce is excellent, but it’s not like Zaxbys Texas toast and dipping sauce is significantly worse.
Zaxbys also has an expanded menu with different wing style sauces, great other menu options with salads, fried pickles, cheese curds, and specialty menu items (which can be admittedly hit or miss).
If you had to choose one to be nearby, I don’t see how you wouldn’t want Zaxbys given the better chicken, better fries, and better menu, unless you are vehement that you really think Canes dipping sauce is somehow that substantially better than Zaxbys.
Id assume my state is 0:0 because I’ve never heard of either of these but surprisingly its a 15:22 ratio.
I live in a town where we have both. Cane’s is way better.
Your lack of Bojangles is disturbing
I grew up in Mobile, so:
Foosackly’s > Guthrie’s/Zaxby’s > Raising Cane’s
As a fried chicken fan who has lived in both Ohio and Virginia, I can say Raising Cane’s is by far the superior place for chicken fingers. Get a three piece Cane’s meal side by side with a 3 piece Zaxby’s, it’s not even close. The Cane’s tenders and fries are both of slightly higher quality than Zaxby’s, but the biggest difference is in the bread. Cane’s bread is delicious and soft and buttery, while Zaxby’s bread is literally inedible cardboard. The worst nasty little piece of toast I’ve ever had in my life. Plus the Cane’s sauce is much better than Zax sauce.
The one thing Zaxby’s has going for it is that they have much wider menu than Cane’s and can offer wings as well with a variety of different sauces. They’re nice to have once in a while and they have a few good sauce flavors but even then the quality of the wings is pretty Meh.
I have never heard of either of these. Western Washington here.
Having eaten at both I whole heartedly prefer Laynes, we have one next to our local Canes and it is slowly winning all their customers.
I live in South Carolina and I’ve never even heard of Raising Cane’s.
Big Zaxby’s fan. Maybe it’s just because they’re not in my state. But every time I’ve gone there it’s been delicious
Alaska having three raising canes and the Great Plains and mountain west having zero is so weird to me
Both Cane’s and Zaxby’s used to be way better (always preferred Zaxby’s though). Now they’re so expensive for declining quality that it’s not even worth it for Cane’s chronically bland chicken or Zaxby’s consistently soggy fries.
Guthrie’s is where it’s at, although I’m sure they’ll skimp out as well any time soon.
In case anyone was interested, in Madison, MS there’s a Zaxby’s & Cane’s across the street from each other.
As a person who now lives in a state with zero Zaxby’s I miss it desperately
Yes, lots of chains are regional.
I’ve never heard of Raising Cane’s.
Lol @ the super white places in the Northwest and upper New England.
Seems like it is time to start my
PE Deal Chicken Co.
I have nave no idea what a Raising Cane or Zaxby are but thanks to this map, I now know that there are 9 of one of them in my State and none of the other.
I’ve never had Zaxby’s, but Canes is so mid
And now you see why so many of us will say, “WTF is a Zaxby?”
I love Cane’s tenders they are moist and tasty but everything else they do is meh. The fries, the toast, the slaw …
