Princess Anne is widely known as the hardest-working royal. But a new report suggests the 74-year-old may be growing frustrated with her nephew, Prince William, over his reluctance to take on one of the monarchy’s more traditional responsibilities.

According to The Sunday Times, the Princess Royal is reportedly “annoyed” that William, 43, has not taken on more investiture ceremonies at Windsor Castle, despite living nearby at Adelaide Cottage.

A source close to Anne said: "She’s still doing most of the investitures [at Windsor] even though William lives there. It annoys her."

Investitures are a significant part of royal life, where honours and awards are formally given to individuals recognised in the King’s Honours list. Traditionally, these are carried out by senior working royals including the monarch, Anne, and William.

While William has performed investitures in the past, Anne continues to carry out the majority of these ceremonies, particularly at Windsor Castle

  1. And rightly so, if true.

    I’d be fairly quick to give some leeway to William and Catherine given the tough couple of years they’ve had, but it’s very frustrating that William has not stepped up to the expectations of his role as POW. It’s not exactly like the role (or the required duties) were a surprise to him. I can understand Catherine’s sporadic work ethic given her ongoing recovery from cancer but honestly William is really not doing enough.

  6. Princess Anne should recognise that William is much too busy doing very important work that’s he’s passionate about, like watching football or going on holidays(every month).

    It’s an enormous sacrifice that’s he’s willing to make so that the elderly members of the family don’t have to attend Aston Villa games or get too hot from the sun by laying on the beaches in the Caribbean/floating around on mega yacht in the Mediterranean.

  10. He should be ashamed of having an elderly Princess Anne doing his job. Enough already. Go back to your duties. It’s like Harry left and now he feels like he can disappear too. Sir, you’re the heir. You ran your brother away instead of getting along with him, respecting his wife and letting Harry be your rock. I know Harry would have been happy to do that for his brother. Now all he has is a toxic marriage and a very sad reign in the future. Tell me ONE person that William has a good relationship with.

  13. It’s okay William will reflect on this on his fifth holiday of the year on a Yacht that takes 700000 dollars of environmental destroying fuel owned by a guy who did some things which if you google you need to turn off the images because you will cry.

  15. Anne is 74 years old and had a serious concussion, which is no joke at her age. William should be ashamed.

  16. Anne needs to slow down and William does need to step it up. I understand his situation though with a wife and father battling cancer at the same time. Still, he will soon be the sovereign and needs to start stepping into that role a little more.

    It’s sad to see the princes not getting along. I would have thought that with all they have been through, they two of them would be rock solid. Harry could have been a great asset to William as he ascends to the throne but I guess that wondering how dark Archie would be was a step too far.

  17. He’s too lazy to perform royal duties so what’s the point of him. His desperation to meet trump was telling, if harris won would he have been as keen and behaved the same way? Let’s observe their next meeting, there’s similarities there
