I remember them fuckin’ up Prussia so bad, they had to rely of britania and Russia.
That’s how badass France really is.
You are only as good as your last war, if the last french war was the napoleonic war, then much respect would be due, but then they lost to Prussia in 1870 and then they were bullied by them in first world war (until they got help) and in the second world war.
Funny how they invented everything up until photography innit
France: conquers the western part of the german world over centuries, doing so up until napoleons defeat
Also France when losing a tiny part of it after a war they declared: How could you do this to me, this is litteraly unfair
>!You dont have to come at me with this cringe “nuance” now, or the treatment of the people of the region under prussia, or draw parallels between this and german eastward expansion, this is all just for the meme and I love you Pierre (in a heterosexual eu kind of way)!<
Wdym we kicked their butts over here
Yes we all remember the Franko-Finnish war of 18-neverhappened.

But if you think about it, Germany is just the part of France that broke off from the Frankish kingdom? Wasn’t it known as East Francia?
To be fair we have all fucked all here in Europe.

Don’t mind me.
Why do you think we hate and love them?
They’re pricks…. Historic cock munchers to everyone on the EU peninsula and beyond. I can’t take high ground as the Brit empire was on par. Bloody good show chaps!
But their level of snobbery and refusal to change in the modern age is baffling!
You’re on par with Greece, riding a wave that’s long crashed into the shore.
But they do love a scrap and will die on some stupid hill they built, which is a lot more than can be said for more than half of the EU
For most of the early modern period, the most common pattern of major European wars was France making any move that could give it more power being such a threat to the balance that everyone else would gang up on them (except Bavaria or whatever Francophile middle powers they had at the time). And even with France vs. Everybody it usually ended in a complicated draw until Napoleon, when it was mostly just a series of French Ws (on land…) until the final defeats.
But also fair to remember how (1) countries like Germany and Italy were still in little pieces and (2) France had a *much* larger share of the European population. It’s on par with the UK and Italy now but before it mysteriously stalled across the 19th century when others boomed, they had triple Britain’s population and 2.5 times Spain’s in 1800. France alone – not including its possessions – had the population of the Ottoman Empire and a bigger population than Russia proper by a third.
France never really did anything against us, for the most part.
They made us give up nova scotia but thats it really.
They helped us significantly in our history and we helped them as well.
Basically that means angus’ are allowed to marry any pierre they want and vise versa.
Eventually we’ll make em alcholics and create a race of english hating alcoholics…..wait haud oan
they also helped romania a lot along the centuries so that was nice of them.
They will remember the two becoming life long friends who kicked an invader clear out of continental Europe, breaking him up into even smaller pieces than rhe last time.
Well yes, that’s how it has been for all nations with a great history.
Even for Spain:
– England: everyone remembers the Spanish Armada, they even made a propaganda film portraying it as a great English victory (Elizabeth: The Golden Age). But no one remembers the much greater failure of Drake’s Counter-Armada, which led to the Treaty of London in 1604 (Treaty that strongly favored Spain). And no one has ever heard about the MASSIVE failure at the Battle of Cartagena de Indias, where England sent the second largest fleet in history after Normandy, and failed against Blas de Lezo.
– The French: about Napoléon, everyone remembers the Russians and their winter, or the British defeating the French army, without ever mentioning that the FIRST defeat of the imperial army on land happened in southern Spain, against Spaniards. (Bailén 1808).
A defeat so strong it sent a message to other nations that they should resist. Even in the recent (and very bad) Napoleon film, there’s not a single mention of the Peninsular War, which Napoleon himself considered a cancer…
*”It was that unfortunate war in Spain that was the primary cause of France’s misfortunes.”*
-Napoléon, Sainte-Hélène.
Same goes for the centuries-old propaganda against the Spanish by Protestants, the English, and the French. The Black Legend of the Inquisition, The Black Book of Spain, etc. We were the first global empire in history, along with Portugal, the first empire on which the sun never set during more than 200 years. But the population is not well educated, and there is a deliberate effort to erase or portray the Spanish as soulless villains by Hollywood and the English-speaking world.
Deliberate omission or selective framing of information, changing history,… that’s propaganda.
In short, all great nations face their share of propaganda. It’s a very good weapon!
And this is amplified by the lack of knowledge, short-term memory, and (non)education of the population…
That’s the game
Auld Lang syne.. ey?
Yup.. I don’t speak, if I speak there will big trouble.
I don’t know if Norway ever been at war with France.
Not counting us invading them a little for 1000 years ago, obviously.
> noooo don’t judge them by the most recent war, judge them by a war 400 years ago when they didn’t embarass themselves
We bashed ivan together pierre and I think that was pretty cool
my brain is so dead i thought the left one showed r/place. Funnily enough France lost there too (step up your game boys)
Most of these wins against “foreign nations” are the French king army putting down rebellions against his own vassals.
Do you most Fr*nch really want to be proud of a bunch Parisian bootlicker trying to impose their will on the Province ?
You say proaganda like if any part of this wasn’t true.
It just one was funny as hell
France? You mean sugar daddy 😝😝😝💘
Gern geschehen, Pierre!
Nah, France here is remembered as Napoleon getting his ass kicked so bad he called us a cancer lmao
You could also say that we were pretty much at the crossroads for everyone … so then we had to beat everyone to survive…
I was just talking about this with a French friend earlier today. People’s historic memory is incredibly short. Doesn’t make the jokes about the French being weak any less funny. Actually it’s probably why they are funny. Nobody’s making fun about all the smaller European countries that no one ever expected to be powerful in the first place….not naming names, but you know who you are.
People getting stuck on the precise composition of a generic panel of flags meant to represent a huge number of countries rather than specific ones is why we will never beat the autism allegations.
