  1. That’s why in New Jersey you mostly have southerners.

  2. They probably were looking for a new place to be racist.

  3. Respect to my ancestors who would have gladly starved after two world wars, or worse eaten only polenta for the rest of their lives, before even contemplating emigrating to New Jersey.

  4. It’s not so much that they saw this. It’s that they heard the locals speak German.

  5. No, southerns moved to New Jersey. The dudes who saw this moved to Brazil.

  6. Well they ended up becoming Americans, so jokes on them.

  7. Poverty and oppression

Then they moved back to Italy lol

  8. They didn’t. They moved from Sicily and Campania and such. Northern Italians in the US were more likely to be the occasional academics, conductors and diplomats and such

  9. My ancestors emigrated from Lake Como to Milan in 1860 for better opportunities. We have nothing to do with those immigrants in New Jersey. I eat pizza once a month..

  10. Tirol wasn’t a part of Italy when Luigi’s 4x great grandparents moved to New York

  11. South Italians moved to the USA, Australia and the north and northern Italians moved to Argentina, Brazil,(a little bit in the USA) and Germany
