    Stop using that “tariff” word and start using the synonym “import tax” instead.

  5. The language Trump uses is misleading. The “Philippines” won’t pay tariffs imposed by Trump, American importers and Americans pay these tariff “import taxes”. It’s not the U.S. that will pay no tariffs, it’s the Philippine Importers/people that will pay no tariffs (import taxes) on American goods. We need to learn to NOT use the misleading and manipulative language that Trump and his enablers use.

  7. Customs & Border Protection (CBD) is inside the United States and responsible for collecting tariffs upon the products entry into the US and its pickup by, you guessed it, the person in the US.

    When that person arrives to get their stuff that just arrived in the US, they pay the tariffs to CBD before leaving with their stuff.

    Unless that person calls up the Philippines immediately after and successfully asks them to CashApp/Venmo them the tariff just paid to CBD, it is the customer who pays the tariff and has been this way for fucking ever.

    Even then, its always the customer inside the US who pays the tariff, doesn’t matter if their grandma or a foreign president later does them a favor and reimburses them.

    Not a new process, not a new payment and pickup mechanism. It is we Americans paying this shit.

    There is literally no mechanism to charge a foreign country before they send their goods to the US.
