One claim I’ve seen in support of this legislation is that, since these agencies are independent, have no oversight by Ukrainian secret services, and do not follow government directives, they have been infiltrated by Russian agents and are working to sabotage Zelensky’s government
Also seen people asking why so many MPs voted in favour of the legislations if it is so harmful
Hate to point out the obvious. They do have air defense protecting this area right?
It is ukraine’s country. They have to defend anyway they can. Take america, taken over with russian dogma. The billionaire money have no interest in democracy, only money, regardless of interfering state actors like russia. I do not think we as outsiders are qualified to comment on this, as for ukraines protestors what have they been reading online. What I do know is ukraine has been fighting tooth and nail against normalising russia, god speed. Russia permeates any porus material, in rusian, in ukraine, in the west, in the east, africa, south america. About time such a poor state was ganged up upon and put back where it will take 100 years to dig out of and grow into a rational loving human country.
If he does, thats his road to re-election.
The questions why they did it. Ukraine is a cou try at war. Even if transparency is crucial for the legitimacy for a free country. But with a strong parlamentary support it must be out of necesity. But I think its good to keep on protesting, so afrer the war, there these laws could reversed.
Not my country so I have no business talking about it, but I feel like it makes sense during war to restrict freedom on an agency that is suspected to have ties to their enemy.
They could have made it temporary though – just for the duration of martial law – I think that would’ve made more sense than to (try) make it a permanent thing.
Kind of needed when it’s infiltrated by russians + when it’s so heavily voted in favour it’s not a partisan issue but a necessary one!
Ofc that means they have to reform and maybe have some oversight but this isn’t as bad as portrayed
Doesn’t this reform make Ukraine’s structure for these agencies match that of other EU countries, like Germany? I feel like I’m watching a Russian psy op with all these posts.
I’d check the SM of every single attender of this protest if I was Ukraine Gov, you know.
Might find some pro russian posting there
Always refreshing to see freedom to protest. Try that in Moscow and see what happens.
I understand zelensky is under enormous pressure and under constant attack by russian operatives, but he still has to respect the sacrifices of his people to form a free and fair representative government. Anti corruption is key to any democracy. He could simply have the SBU vet everyone who works there again. He doesn’t have to take away their independence. Otherwise they can’t do their job. Joining the EU and Western military aid is everything to these people.
If he’s willing to jeopardize everything to protect his own skin, then maybe we were wrong about him. I personally don’t know what to think. It sounds very complicated. I know for certain he can’t do anything to undermine relationships with allies. This could be a move by russia into forcing zelensky into unpopular moves in order to protect the country itself from russian attacks. It’s hard to know for sure. So much is secret behind the scenes just for national securities sake.
The fact there not getting beaten thrown in a police van and jailed shows that the country at least has not become a dictatorship and people still feel the freedom to express themselves.
You’ll never please everyone and add in the Russian influence it must be hell trying to find the best solutions
I think these agencies should be dismantled at least until the war is over. I know it’s a slippery slope, because what actually qualifies as an end? But yeah letting these probably already Russian infiltrated agencies exist now is probably not great.
Better communication would of gone a long way.
However, maybe this was done to streamline the anti corruption agencies, and limit/weed out russians
A solution could be to invite independent international monitors from allied nations, with good track records in these matters.
How many personnel does an anti-corruption agency need?
Could this be a somewhat rotating roles to help relieving troops at the front? Led by commanders who have done a good job, but as tactics and methods change, could better utilise their older skills and loyalty within this agency?
Russian bull shit
Just turn on air raid alarm and protest is gone
