UK partners with Deliveroo, Just Eat, Uber Eats to crack down on illegal riders and asylum hotels

1. Watch the government just make them legal, there’s no way they will fine these companies the money they deserve, someone calculated it before and it’s more than the companies are worth. They won’t get deported either.

2. I just feel like maybe don’t allow the delivery companies to illegally hire asylum seekers?

3. Wasn’t there a story earlier this week where a small family business had been fined £50,000 for employing one illegal migrant? Why haven’t these delivery firms been fined into the ground, considering it seems their entire workforce is made up of illegals on illegal bikes?

4. Or make them actually hire employees with all the relevant checks, rather than allow them to use the contractors loophole which gets them out of their responsibilities?

5. These would be brilliant jobs for people just finished school, or at uni, but them companies just want to pay peanuts, and don’t care what’s best for society.

6. These companies have ruined a lot of things for a lot of people yet people still use them!

   Roads are more dangerous, customers aren’t safe, foods regularly tampered with or missing with no refunds given, illegals being hired and sharing ids, but people still use them?

   They all need to be regulated much better than they are, like taxis for example, insured, registered in the local area, perhaps not using hotels or shops as an address, have to pay for a delivering licence, councils get extra income and become part of the checking process for these apps and being that the council would be on the hook if checking was failed then it would give more incentive to check thoroughly.

7. I’ve worked with 2 of these 3 companies in a consultant capacity.

   They have some of the most technologically skilled workforces in the UK, they are extremely competent at what they do, and without a shadow of a doubt, they have known about the extent of their illegal immigrant drivers for *years*. I promise you, they have known for years.

   These companies deserve to be absolutely hammered by fines and in some executive cases, lengthy prison sentences. Everybody who wants fewer illegal immigrants here should boycott them indefinitely.

8. Part of me hoped people would just stop using these for delivery, they served a purpose during covid but I know we stopped using them after multiple bad experiences with the delivery drivers. They have also made the service in a lot of takeouts and fast places significantly worse.

9. ‘partner with’, they should be crushed into the dirt for so blatantly using illegal labour for years now. If you’re a small company you get finished and smacked, but oh no, you have to ‘partner’ with the big boys. Pathetic.
