I spent about an hour watching one in my garden today.
He/She was gathering food for the chick. The chick was just following around and the parent was picking up food and putting it in the chicks mouth. It was the highlight of my year so far.
They’re super territorial so he’s actually just annoyed that you’re in his gaff. Even though he’ll eat the bugs you end up digging up, he’ll still be pissed you’ve the audacity to even be there.
Totally gives Secret Garden vibes ❤️
Exact same thing happened me a few weeks ago when I was cutting away a heap of ivy!
Yep same exact thing when I was digging out the driveway flowerbed, knows the worms will be turfed up.
