  3. Did they take them there or did they escort them to prevent public disorder as they were going there anyway, similar to crowds of football supporters. The word admitted, is doing a lot of spinning here.

  4. So people were deemed to be at risk from attack by the anti immigration protesters? The ones who were attacking hotels and trying to set fire to them last summer?

    Seems odd that the police might have thought the violent mob might act like a violent mob, but there you go.

  7. Obviously they were going to escort them to maintain their safety, and it was perfectly reasonable and fair of them to do so. Why anyone thought no deny it was ludicrous.
    Otherwise a complete non-story, as expected from this rag.

  8. “admitted” lol. It’s literally the police’s job to try to keep people safe. Counter protestors are heading there so obviously they’re going to try to keep them safe, just like the original protestors.

  9. Admitted? What’s the problem here? I’d imagine they’re escorting them to stop bams kicking off, but the word ‘admitted’ is being used to turn this into rage bait.

  10. Escorting counter-protesters to keep them apart and avoid trouble is normal

    But what appears to have happened here is they escorted them to a position where their presence caused trouble to kick off.

    That looks to be poor judgement on their part and if they then tried to pretend otherwise by denying escorting them its a really bad look. Better to just admit they messed up by not keeping the counter-protest a safe distance from the protest.

  17. The british police is a joke to be honest. Where I’m from, you have to book a site for protesting beforehand, and who gets it first, has the right to be there. And no other groups are allowed at that site. And last time these similar “counter protesters” arrived they were essentially beaten and dragged off by police when the sensible citizens who can follow rules cheered.

    And that was exactly how you are supposed to handle things, considering these people are there only to instigate violence.

  32. We’ve literally just had a court case for Northumbria police where they were told not to “express support for political aims (e.g. changes to law or policy) or opposition to other lawful view”
    Taking anti protest activists to a rally would surely contradict this
