I live in a TINY sleepy town of old people. There aren’t many gp spots available. This is normal. But if I spam the call button until I don’t get the out of hours message at 08:29:55 or 08:30:08 or whenever when the lines open, I don’t think there can possibly be “more than 30 people in the queue.” I’ve only once seen more than 30 people at once in our village and that was when there was a beer festival in the pub.
Nothing more reassuring than a receptionist giving their medical opinions.
I’ve been 1st once by timing my call so I would hit the queue right when the clock ticked over to 8am. It still rang for ages until someone picked up though.
I was told i was number 1 in the queue on Monday morning. Lines opened at 8am and I had my sons appointment for 9.30 the same day booked in by 8.02. I was very happy with myself!
I have no idea why anyone is still phoning in.
Use the NHS app. Send a message to your GP. You’ll get triaged and they’ll either call you or give you a time to come in.
If you do get first in the queue, you won’t get answered. For some reason they never press the first call waiting button.
