On the morning of Monday, July 21, 2025, forty security agents violently raided the home of Leila Saremi, daughter of the martyred PMOI member Ali Saremi, in Borujerd. They arrested her and took her away. The heroic Ali Saremi, who spent 24 years in the prisons of both the Shah’s and the clerical dictatorships, was executed in Evin Prison on December 28, 2010, one day after the first anniversary of the Ashura uprising.
Following their violent entry, the intelligence agents conducted a thorough search of the house and confiscated all electronic and communication devices, including laptops and mobile phones.
The raid was carried out despite the fact that the repressive agents did not possess even a single judicial warrant for the arrest of Leila Saremi.
Leila Saremi is the mother of political prisoner Farzad Moazami, who is currently held in Ward 2 of Fashafouyeh Prison.
Farzad Moazami, born in 1998, was arrested in April 2023 on charges of collusion and propaganda against the regime. He was subjected to physical and psychological torture and was even held in a cage for a period of time. Due to a complete lack of medical care and access to essential medication, he repeatedly suffered from nervous attacks.
In October 2024, Farzad Moazami was sentenced to five years in prison by Branch 29 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Seyed Ali Mazloum, on charges of “assembly and collusion against national security.”
The Iranian Resistance calls on the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Human Rights Council, the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran, and other human rights organizations to take immediate action for the release of Leila Saremi and her son Farzad Moazami.
