What is this? I moved to Hungary lately, and found this on every door in my apartment. Always on the top left corner of the door frame.

  1. No idea. Could be an old curtain rod holder? Or the previous owner liked to hang dried flowers on the door? This is not a Hungarian thing as far as I know…

  2. could be the residue of insecticide used against roches. The color seems the same as well as the shape, however the placement and the size is off. It is usually in cabinets and near corners and cracks on the walls and it is much smaller. Could be a home job instecticeding, done by the last owner tho

  3. russian collaborators mark their doors with these, so the invading force can see that, its a friendly place 🙂

  4. Where did you move, because funnily enough, roaches aren’t that common in this country. As I native Hungarian I have never seen a cockroach irl apart from in zoos and stuff. I do live in the country side though so that might be the reason. It may be some prankster putting “Piros Arany” (paprika pepper creme) on the doors.

  5. A shitty paint job.

Regarding the red paste, it’s a cockroach poison. Very effective (at least they say) as it is not only killing the one tastes it, but as that one crawls back to their nest, it brings back the poison too on its legs and body, and infects the whole nest.

  6. don’t worry, those are just thing that makes insects unexist. if you get a mail and you see “Rovarirtás”, ask if there is a way to do it with liquid.

  7. its a camera. It is watching you. break it open. burn the insides. demolish your walls and cut the wires. It watches you. It is coming for you. Run. Run. Run.

    /s obviously

  8. Given that most people here have more arms than IQ, it might just be a marking of which corner of the door goes to the top left upon installation
