It’ll all end up like old school discos with the men on one side and the women on the other wondering why no one will bridge the gap
I hope he stays off the sauce. Let it be a lesson

Feck this a thing? I’m gonna be rich!
I’m owed a lot of money from my nightclubbing days then
This is ridiculous, if I was to sue all of the women who have tried to kiss me I wouldn’t have to work anymore.
It seems I owe the wife 10k for the night we met.
To be fair though she owes me 10k too for the next night we met.
This makes men go their own way look sane
Edit : joking . Christ sake
Whatever happened must have been serious enough, the judge describes it as “quite disgusting”, “appalling”, “incredibly stupid” and “horrible”. Says if he re-offends in a similar manner he’ll face a prison sentence.
Most of Ireland’s male population is pouring sweat right now.

But if someone breaks into your car that’s parked outside your house, or assaults you violently on the streets, the guards won’t even investigate it because the criminal will just be let off with a warning.
Maybe this is what the guards are talking about when they say it’s a civil matter.
At this rate, I’ve seen millions of euro worth compensation claims in pubs and clubs over the years.
A few cautionary tales might be for the best.
The article doesn’t give much detail but it doesn’t sound like he just misread a signal, sounds more like he was plastered out of his head and just grabbed an older woman to kiss out of the crowd as a joke. Unfortunately for him he grabbed a woman who already didn’t love being in social situations and it affected her much worse than it might have another person. Shit situation.
Is this ruling backdated and would Copper Faces be exempt from the ruling?
Lot of people telling on themselves in this thread.
10 grand is a nutty amount. I’ve seen people get 3-5k in court for getting their face beaten to a pulp.
As a guy, I’m not sure whether I’d be net positive or net negative by the time I hit my late 20s if the same rule applies. Not sure what made this guy so gross, but I’ll take his word for it.
That headline, and the text of how the judge describes it, is such a ridiculous and severely disingenuous way of posting this content.
I can’t imagine it was just a kiss if the judge is describing it as horrible and quite disgusting.
This is why we send an envoy to deliver the ancient proposal of “Will you shift me mate?”
Going by what the judge said about the matter, this should have been considered a sexual assault and was downplayed to sound like an “unwanted kiss”.
I think this case might be a bit more extreme than the headline suggests but I do worry that as a society we are trying to criminalise aspects of behaviour that are normal.
I’d find it hard to believe that anyone here hasn’t at one point tried to shift someone in a pub/nightclub and got unceremoniously rejected, in most cases it’s a misread signal and the only real consequence is embarrassment for both parties.
It even happened to me last year, some women I was talking to at the bar grabbed my derrière and tried to taste what I had for dinner yesterday with her tongue, for context I’m in my mid-40’s, married and would be first in line for a role as an extra for Lord of the Rings if it was ever remade.
Can only surmise she was on something stronger than the Magners she was drinking.
It was unwelcome behaviour but I’d have no desire to get her on the sex offenders register because of it.
Well thank fuck I don’t go to coppers anymore
I can’t believe people here are actually mad that a perv is being fined for sexual harassment. Yesterday this sub was up in arms about the calls to stop the groping of Molly Malone, the reason being that iTS oNLy a sTAtUe – OK, and now an actual woman was sexually harassed and for once, the perpetrator is being held to account and even that makes y’all mad as well. Almost like a substantial chunk of the male sex really want to be able to sexually harass women with no consequences – the Molly Malone statue really does a good job of exposing what a disturbing number of men would do to women if there were no consequences for their actions.
I can’t remember which feminist said something along the lines of, “we’re naive as to how much men hate women” but this comment section really cements my view that she was 100% right.
I’m guessing it wasn’t just a little kiss.
“Stephenson thought the woman would see the funny side of it but now understands his mistake and that not everyone has the same sense of humour”
Why does this still feel like a jab at the woman for not thinking it was funny?
I’m a man. I was kissed by a man on a bus on the way into Carlow. It was an actual kiss not an attempted kiss as described in this article. It was most definitely unwanted.
If 10k is the award for an attempted kiss what can I get for an actual kiss?
The perpetrator was greeted off the bus by a guard so I assume he was well known to them. I also assume he was unemployed and would have no way of paying the 20k I no doubt deserve. Do I sue the bus company instead? How do I get my rightful payout?
Articles like these are disgusting. No one gets fined 10k over an honest mistake. Let’s leave the “Gender Warfare” aside for 5 fucking minutes and actually report on what’s happening.
I think Hozier said it best about riding but also allies to chatting to girls in clubs.
“Consent is sexy. Lads, if you’re not convinced that consent, audible consent -something uttered, something whispered, something called for loudly- is sexy, then chaps I’m afraid you may not be doing this right”
I’m aware this wasn’t a misreading signals situation but like even drunkenly not thinking you need someone’s overt agreement to kiss is an ingrained issue.
Doesn’t sound like a drunken kiss, the CCTV footage must have been really bad for the judge to make comments like that along with imposing such a hefty fine.
Scumbag
So initially he told Gardai that due to being drunk he had no recollection of events yet he told the court that he thought the woman would see the funny side of it.
A. Those things don’t add up and
B. He absolutely didn’t think she would see the funny side, he thought his friends would think he was a mad lad. Prick.
I must be owed an awful lot in compensation over the years!
All joking aside, it must have been out of the blue and quite aggressive.
Definitely more to this story but no doubt the facts are deplorable.
Mad how alcohol was repeatedly reference yet the court didn’t order him to attend any alcohol awareness or alcohol counselling.
Very sad. Nobody in their 20s should be named Harold.
It’s ##allude to## by the way…that’s deserving of a fine for the copy editor.
