  1. 😂😂😂 Next time I recommend anything to anyone i should charge them an advisory fee for taking some of my precious time. But in all seriousness it sounds deranged.

  2. The reason why they are afraid is not because fixing the issue is hard or costly. It is because older games are their own competence, and their business model depends on people not wanting to play older, cheaper games in order to purchase the new ones.

They have been blessed with technology advances that made that transition naturally. But from one decade ago, the advances in technology and cultural shift towards indies, made this transition harder and harder, so, they implemented shut down mechanisms.

Now, the gamers in the EU are wanting to forbid them to use the shut down button. That’s unexpected for them and they are unprepared for it.

  3. 1,4 million people have to disclose their real life identity just to have something considered by the EU government but corporate shills can make anonymous claims filled with bullshits to negate all of that.

What a shit world we live in.

  4. One good way to fight against the shittification would be to refuse to buy games that have no mod support

  5. “First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.”

  6. It’s a complaint anyone can file. I seriously doubt it will gain any traction. Of course the EU has to take even such complaints seriously but … I bet nothing will come of it.

  7. He is not a founder. He is no legal way related to initiative (he is not EU citizen for crying out loud). He is just a volunteer, spokes person. Basically like any other Youtuber who decided to make videos on the initiative. He is just super active.

  8. That means they are afraid that the movement is working. That they might have to change their fraudulent business descriptions of actually ‘renting’ stuff to people and literally taking the stuff away without compensation. They are hiding behind the ‘licensing’ label but if there were to come out and flat out said to people ‘yea we are making you pay all this money but you don’t own anything, we can cancel and take back th stuff for any reason any time we want’…they wouldn’t be making what they are now. Of course there is a chunk of people who wouldn’t care much about that but there is a big chunk that do.

So we need these laws and regulations to keep these industries in line. The ‘self-regulation’ is the biggest lie of all.

  9. > However, the complaint argues that the initiative didn’t receive any monetary contribution; rather, it claims Scott simply volunteered too much of his own time to promote the movement, which—if you’ve decided words no longer mean anything—is basically the same thing.

    > The complaint cites PC Gamer’s interview with Scott from June, in which he said “there have been many weeks on the campaign where I’ve been working 12 to 14 hours a day to keep things moving to get signatures.” That promotional work, the complaint argues, amounts to “€63,000-147,000 in professional contribution” if he’d charged a “market rate” of “€50-75/hour.”

    Wow this so stupid.

So if I printed out some flyers and spent a few hours per day handing them out, would this count as financial contribution?

    Also…

    > That promotional work, the complaint argues, amounts to “€63,000-147,000 in professional contribution” if he’d charged a “market rate” of “€50-75/hour.”

How in the world is this market rate?

I mean maybe in the US, but Ross lives in Poland…

  10. Ross isn’t the founder for a start. Does ANYONE in the media actually read anything before slapping their greasy fingers on a keyboard?

  11. They have nothing to be afraid of, voluntary work isn’t a monetary contribution.

  12. Oh god, it will be Pirate Software, this guy hates the campaign.

  13. This is how you know someone’s profits are gonna get hit by this. I bet they’ve already spent a substantial amount of money readying the lobbying campaign to stop this.

  14. Imagine the most basic consumer right being considered an existential threat… what BS industry video games actually are…

  15. This title is horribly written and you honestly the cause deserves to be presented in more logical and coherent way

  16. What about financial contributions of other laws being passed by lobbyists?

  17. Keep signing it, the more signatures, the more lawmakers will take it serious.

  18. Well, you know what to do, speak with your wallets. Stop buying from these companies
