“Hotel guests with reservations were seen arriving at the site yesterday, while others were reportedly attempting to secure refunds.
There are also allegations that staff who had previously worked at the hotel were dismissed on the same day.
One person wrote: “On 9th June, I booked and fully paid for two rooms in this hotel for 2 nights in August. Today (6 weeks later) I received an email cancelling my booking because “the hotel has taken a large group booking”.
“How can anyone trust a hotel that does this to its customers? I have booked meals out and a theatre trip as part of our stay London and am now having to scramble around trying to find something suitable at short notice, which will undoubtedly now be more expensive as a result. What a pitiful company.”
Another person said: “Absolutely appalling experience with Britannia International Hotel. My confirmed reservation was cancelled less than 24 hours before my stay via a brief phone call, citing a “private hire” event.”
Reports on social media claim this hotel Britannia Hotel in Canary Wharf has 500 rooms and charges up to £400 per night. Serco profit margin must be huge!
still, at least its given the police something to do and gets them out of the office
This is obviously an organised national strategy to create division in UK society.
The far right racists doing Putins work.
It s easy to blame immigration. But companies like Serco are making millions from this. Nobody seems to be protesting outside Serco Headquarters.
The goose march continues, attack those with no money and power for problems caused by those with all the money and power.
Vile people who use hate division and “fear of the other”, 14 years of that has brought us here. Stop listing to populists who promise the world but if only we can get rid of the outsiders.
Reinvest in asylum processing and re-open legal asylum paths that we once had. Pre-Brexit small boat crossings crossings for 2018 was 297, this problem was created by listing to right-wing populists.
Not bad being an illegal migrant and being put up in one of the richest parts of London. That’s quite a coup!
This is what happens when Lee Anderson starts shouting at traffic.
Something is going to majority kick off and then Labour can push some stupid and controversial bill to protect “asylum seekers” from the British people which will probably be some George Orwell or V for Vendetta bullshit bill.

Weird they get housed in a £450+ a night hotel.. don’t we have loads of abandoned office buildings that would easily suffice?
It’s cruel making anyone stay in a Britannia hotel. Had so many crap experiences thanks to cheapskates at work.
It’s pretty harsh, seen the footage of the oriental family returning to the hotel only to be greeted by security not allowing them into the premises with no notice or warning given.
Imagine calling them for something and expecting even one to show up!! They’ve never accomplished anything when I’ve engaged them even when they have shown up.
I’ve had the dubious pleasure of staying in that Britannia hotel a number of times, and four star? Lolololol. The rooms were scruffy and/or dirty and the general ambience of the place was shabby and low rent.
I wonder if these ‘seekers look outside and think “dayum….they really don’t want us here!”
It’s wild we’re just paying hotels for them. No wonder they’re desperate to get here, you absolutely cannot blame them.
I never got this nonsense.
Find a field, put some chain link fence around it with barbed wire on top.
Slap up a few tents and shove them all in there.
If they don’t like it then they’re free to fuck off home.
Too many fascists about.
Yes, they’ve got nothing else to do.
I think it’s absolutely ridiculous that they dismiss all or the majority of the staff and bring in outside people when this happens. We have a cost of living crisis, how is making local people unemployed going to help?
Humm if labour goes ahead with tax increases and extension of pension age. That would be pushing the nail in the coffin.
I think we might be looking at a more populist government. In the US border crossing has really come down substantially even though trump is bit of a figure.
