Private sector developers delivered 80% of social housing units last year

  1. Great to see government using all resources available.

There is zero chance that the local authority machine can labour-up and get up to the level that would be needed to construct the number of houses we need in the timeframe.

Hopefully the balance will start to equalize over the coming years but in truth as we’re at labor capacity, it might be a while before local authority building jobs become more desirable than private.

  2. But r/Ireland has told me that property developers are bad and that we need more social housing!!!

  3. Was talking to a property developer yesturday. Any single bed new builds are immediately sold for social housing, zero supply for regular people to buy. Best keep saving, you’ll be forced to buy a 3 bed house because nothing else is available to buy

  4. I’m surprised its not 100%. The government has been selling off its assets and in turn its ability to govern for decades. Is this fudging numbers somehow by not counting semi states?
