All of this is catastrophic for Ukraine’s reputation in the world. The country needs a good international image to continue receiving aid from European countries.
Hard to believe the timing’s a coincidence. You don’t dismantle watchdogs mid-war unless you’re scared they’ll bite the wrong hand. At this point, it’s less about fighting corruption and more about managing the optics. And if the spreadsheets start talking, it won’t be the Russians he’s fighting.
Sounds more like he’s consolidating the politics and finances closer and closer to himself. Probably hoping to shield himself from what’s coming, so that if he were to fall out of power, Ukraine collapses into anarchy.
Are there any rational reasons behind this? Seems like a bizarre thing to do optics wise, unless Zelensky is trying to shield someone the corruption watchdogs were closing in on. Or is there a possibility this is getting taken out of proportion, from what I understand the anticorruption bodies are just being consolidated under a singular government department
