So I will start this by saying I’m in anorexia relapse, I’m 45 and I’ve been trying to get better since April and one of my safe foods was the Aldi turkey and ham ready made dinners. I knew the calories and it had a bit of everything for me so felt safe before people come for my food choice. I also now have a very immunocompromised system due to many years of malnutrition. So I bought my 3 dinners on Friday and I had one yesterday. Also I buy the mash as only me and the hubby eat it so I ate that on Sunday. I felt a bit off yesterday in a headache fluey feeling but it went. I just read a person has died and 9 others are very unwell and of course my safe dinners are 1 of the main recalls. I’m not usually a worrier about stuff like this as it’s not affected me ever but I have severe trust issues with food anyway. I get onto my gp and am told there’s nothing I can do but watch for symptoms over the next 10 days and go straight to hospital if I notice confusion dizziness etc which has sent me into a severe anxiety spiral. No bloody batch numbers are released, they haven’t traced it to the specific meal so now I am absolutely terrified. Anyone any inside info or words of advice cos honestly imagine I die cos I was trying to eat to get rid of my anorexia 😭🥴🥴

Given your health issues, you’re better off getting advice from the professionals which you seem to have done already.
The risk is probably very low. Food safety standards in Ireland are some the highest in the world.
It’s a ballymaguire product recall. Check the producer (which I doubt it’s them based of the “product of northern ireland” label).
As someone has unfortunately passed away, I would take it very seriously
“Inspired Cuisine” products appear on that list RTE/pdf list.. Better safe than sorry..
*”If in doubt, chuck it out”*
[This article from The Irish Times ](https://www.irishtimes.com/ireland/2025/07/23/listeriosis-outbreak-food-safety-authotiy-of-ireland/) has a list of all recalled foods.
Is that Ballymaguire though? You shouldn’t be ill from the one yesterday. Symptoms take 3 days absolute minimum, but usually 3 weeks.
If it is Ballymaguire, throw them out. Batch numbers don’t matter this time, it’s all batches.

That product isnt on the published list of recalled products.
That sounds really tough OP, you have my full sympathies. Are there other foods either convenience foods or others that you can eat in the meantime that might cause less anxiety? There is a full list of affected products on fsai website, maybe you can find something similar but not on the list to tide you over?
You might wanna pick up a cheap food thermometer for peace of mind. Nuke your food to an even 75 degrees throughout and you’ll be absolutely in the clear for listeria. That way, you can still have your safe foods and hopefully not worry too much.
I used to work for Kerry Foods that made these type meals and the first thing they thought us in orientation was to never leave pools of water anywhere on the factory floor cuz it breeds listeria. It’s lethal, do not risk it.
That’ll do it. Unless your microwave is terrible that will kill listeria.
Oh I get that with your health issues this is extra complicated, but personally I would not risk it, especially if you’re immunocompromised.
Do you have other safe foods you can fall back on?
I’ve just been on the phone to Aldi HQ and been into my own Aldi to speak with the manager. The Turkey & Ham dinners are on the shelves still, and as far as they’re concerned, have not been recalled. That said, absolutely keep an eye on yourself and at the first sign of any symptoms, get to the hospital. Hopefully though this gives a little peace of mind!
What’s the risk. What’s the reward. Is it really worth it?
SO I JUST RANG AND IM TOKD THEY ARE STILL SELLING THESE AND THEY ARE NOT RECALLED hopefully

Looks like the Insipired Cuisine Mashed potato isn’t on the list, so you should be ok!
The number one rule for food safety: When in doubt, DON’T.
You’re incorrect about no batch numbers. The FSAI has recalled everything due to possible presence. This means everything from that plant is suspect.
The good news is, if you cooked it properly. You’ll be fine. Listeria dies at 75C. There’s probably an element of shitty microwaves or ppl undercooking involved.

Does anyone know if you give the food a good blast in microwave or oven would that most likely kill all the germs?
OP the risks are likely very low but stuff like this must cause you and many others with eating disorders awful distress. I hope you feel better soon x
The fit foods haven’t been recalled, they are made in a different factory.
so Lord Lidl products not in the list?☠️
I got hit with it during the outbreak in 2019 from prepackaged chicken breast slices. It was the worst illness I ever suffered. I lost a stone in 48 hours and walking, especially up and down stairs was exhausting for weeks. Wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. I wouldn’t risk it.
Just know that future packages will be up to better standards. Hope this doesn’t spoil it for you forever
Fascinating to see how the same prepared shite ranges from the Happy Pear (of annoying c**ts) to Tesco, SuperValu, Centra and Aldi. All made by same factory just different packaging and prices.
This has been going on longer than they are letting on. Back on June 30th the Cabbage and Bacon dinners this company produces were recalled for Listeria. Then on 18th of July they extended this to the Turkey and Ham dinners. Now they have said screw it the whole range has got to go. This probably means people have been getting ill for a while, and now more people are getting ill they have gone with the nuclear option and shut the entire operation down.
You can see this all here: https://www.fsai.ie/news-alert/all-alerts
Edit: Oh and OP if you read this, if you heated those meals properly there is very little chance that you are going to be ill, especially as it could be the bad batches were from a long time ago. Try not to worry, just keep a close eye on yourself and you’ll be fine.
Hey OP, given the circumstances of your health issues, your immune system is most definitely weakened so eating the recalled products is very risky. If you’re not sure just throw it out anyways, given that it’s a large scale recall. As far as I am aware the Dunnes ready meals are not affected since Ballymaguire are not the supplier so you can try those instead.
Hey, if you’re struggling to find foods that fit your requirements, go to Lidl. None of their products are on the recall list
As long as you ensure you’re properly reheating food you don’t have much to worry about. If your food is caught up in the recall, return it but other than that I wouldn’t sweat it.
Heating food until it is greater than or equal to 70c will kill the listeria bacteria and prevent listeriosis. Irrespective of the current outbreak this is what you should always do.
Per the NHS
Listeriosis is not serious for most people. The groups that are at risk are pregnant women, babies, the elderly, people with conditions that compromise the immune system, and people taking medication that compromises the immune system (chemotherapy, or steroids for example)

Eating these things for the past week..shite!
