Asked specifically by journalists if he would visit Gaza, the pope said that “there are many places” he would like to go, “but it’s not necessarily the formula for finding an answer” to Mideast peace. Leo also told journalists that his stay in Castel Gandolfo was a “working holiday” and that it was good to be able “to get a bit of a change of scenery”… but that he “never stopped following current events,” adding that he often spoke to world leaders over the phone. “Thank God, the voice of the Church is still important. Let us continue to strive to promote peace.”
