  1. Depending who was on board this was an accident or an ‘accident’

  2. That’s tragic. I’m hoping for a safe outcome and survivors.

  3. This plane had the only copies of the Epstein files on board.

  4. Everyone on earth is now praying that Putin was on board.

  5. Could we not joke about the likely deaths of dozens of people for fake internet points?

  6. A lot of planes have fallen down from the sky this year

  7. The aircraft was an Angara Airlines An-24 bound for the remote railroad town of Tynda in Amur Oblast. Russian media report that the wreckage has been found “destroyed” and “on fire;” helicopters were unable to land and rescuers are proceeding on foot.

EDIT: Russian media report there do not appear to be any survivors.

The newest An-24s are 45 years old, and this part of Russia has terrible infrastructure. Also, it appears that the weather in the area was poor.

Russia has a poor aviation safety record, and that record is disproportionately dragged down by the far east. This is not the first time Angara Airlines has had a (presumably) fatal accident.
There is no need to joke about assassinations.

  8. A civillian airliner disappearing over Russia, what is this, a Thursday ?

Real question now though, what air defense doing ?

  9. Perhaps fascist russia should stop their unprovoked invasion and occupation of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova so that they can actually buy planes that work?

  10. The first of many? I’m suspecting the war costs have been siphoning money from everything else, even flight safety.

  11. The combination of aging aircraft, harsh weather, and remote infrastructure makes these far eastern routes a perfect storm for tragedy. It’s infuriating how preventable these crashes feel when maintenance and safety standards aren’t prioritized. My heart goes out to the families, losing loved ones in such avoidable circumstances is unimaginable.

  12. Between the age of the aircraft (45 years old is the **minimum age** of the aircraft type, An-24, last rolled off the line in 1979), Russia’s shoddy record of maintenance even pre-Ukraine War, sanctions making any parts hard to come by (even for a Russian made plane that old will still likely have some Western made parts in it), and that part of the country being very poor and having poor infrastructure, I wouldn’t want to be on that plane to begin with.

A loss of life however is always tragic.
