  1. Was there a short period in time when it was called Weißberg?

  2. Thats rich coming from the city that named itself after a dish

  3. They have ”White Mountains” in Greece too, on Crete.

    They really aren’t that creative.

  4. we also have monte piano (flat mountain) and monte piana (again, flat mountain) near one another

people in the mountains have very little fantasy

oh and btw the tallest mountain in the appenines is literally just called “big rock” (Gran Sasso)

  5. Barry looking nervous on top of Torpenhow Hill (hill-hill-hill hill)

  6. Thanks for using the only correct name: Monte Bianco. There are no other names for it.

  7. I mean, Australia has Mount Feathertop… that looks absolutely nothing like the top of a feather.

  8. Says a german that has almost ALL its fucking words as concatenated descriptions…

  9. At least you guys did a better job at naming things than vikings

  10. Inb4 doxxing myself, but not me having a mountain in close vicinity literally called “schneeberg” (snow mountain)

  11. Germans naming things: look we piss and shit in this and then (sometimes) flush let’s call it the sitzerpissundshittermitflowingwasserwhenyoufeellikepressingdietaste

  12. Brother, our word for glove means hand-shoe. There is no leg to stand on here.

  13. This is so practical, I wonder if the German/Austrian aren’t a bit culprit in this.

  14. -is a mountain

    -is white

I do not see the issue. If anything, it should appeal to you, Hans.

  15. Don’t look how we named the moutains we found in the americas… (Grand Tétons–> big titties)

  16. Ehm, actually Monte Bianco and the region of Haute Savoy was part of the Kingdom of Sardinia, so the name comes from us 🤓

And the current border is on the top, Pierre.

  17. Russians saw vodka and called it “lil water” (diminutive of water “voda”).

Also, croissant just means “crescent” in French, in other words Islamic flags have croissants.

  18. Yeah because Germans don’t do that at all. Schwarzenberg, Erzgebirge, Rabenstein, Schwarzwald etc etc…

Germans see something in an area and name it after that.

  19. Quality post, sometimes your autism really pays off Hans
