Stop blaming the victim. For those who KEEP pointing the finger here at Máiría Cahill and ask why didn’t she go to the police? How could she? Her grand uncle Joe was a founder & chief of staff of the provos, her grandad recruited Gerry Adams. In saying that, anyone who somehow thinks that SF are the only party that does this is sorely mistaken. I can guarantee you that the main reason this is centre stage in the public eye is specifically because FF/FG want it there and while that’s good that the victim gets to tell their story, For every Máiría Cahill out there, there’s scores of other women that have had the same experience with no justice under the justice system that has been propagated and managed by FF and FG for about 100 years. None of them get their story heard because it hurts a friend of theres, or it hurts a potential relationship.

The real truth was that SF covered up the rape of a minor, their primary interest was never for Maria or the thousands of others who suffered violent abuse at their hands.
SF believe they were fighting for a bigger cause and this was more important. They were protecting their own. Some might consider this acceptable, I do not.
If they wanted this person to be punished, they could have done so. They did not need to ask a child her opinion. SF had no problem violently punishing many others for much more trivial acts. They gave a minor a menu of options. Jesus ! Why did they not deal with him. If it was my daughter, I would want him permanently dealt with.
The reality is the perp was a member of the SF /IRA royalty and was treated leniently because of his position. I wonder how many others were abused by this perp ?
The reality is SF, like the Catholic church, when abuse of minors came to light, put the organisation first. Both organisations disgust me. The reality is that SF are worse as it appears bullying is rife.
For me the institutional cover up is a much bigger crime and SF leaders need to be accountable.
I will not be supporting SF, as I do not support the Catholic church while they do not come clean and turf out all those complicit in the rape of minors and abusive bullying
SF can never be a credible party until they address the past and current bullying of woman members. They are a populist party who will fail us when they can get into power
There are many good people in SF, as they are in the Catholic Church, they just need to stand up and be counted.
They must remove all those who were complicit in these cover ups to have any credibility.
