  1. I hope he will open an embassy there and will send some of the most loved of his diplomats there.

  2. Hamas should have no part in that state

Edit: I went from +9 to -1 to +8 in about 10 mins 😂 thought this was something everyone here would agree on but it’s apparently controversial

  3. It’s weird seeing the responses here; I thought everyone was in favor of a two-state solution?

  4. Macron is the only european leader that showed a bit of autonomy, this won’t matter much anyway, the plan is clear and they even voted to annex it in the parliament. But better than having a Trump bootlicker like Meloni or Merz.

  5. You can’t have a two state solution without recognising both states. This is obviously the right decision. It’s just disgusting it’s taken so many western nations to do it

  6. I mean, the world forcing both sides to two-state is waaayy overdue.

  7. …in September. Back in April he said he was going to do that in June and then chickened out. I’m not getting my hopes up.

  8. It’s weird and somewhat toxic how Gaza has become a domestic political issue in so many countries. It’s divisive at home, and not any help to the Palestinians either as they’ve basically been turned into mascots to score points in distant countries’ politics. None of it changes anything for them on the ground. Arguably it may be making things worse.

  9. Better be quick before the damned Israelis finish their mission to exterminate the whole population.

  10. My respect for the current French government has increased

  11. About time. Soon all we will have left to recognize is a microstate somewhere in the desertic bits of the area…

  12. Now, if only Palestinians were genuinely interested in the two-state solution…

  13. What are the consequences? If Palestine is a state, does that make Israeli forces occupying forces and the attacks being a war?

  14. They never say what borders they’ll recognize or who they will recognize as the government.

  15. Nothing wrong with recognizing it. A two state solution is the best option.

But the main question becomes, who is the legit government? Who has a right to speak?
Is Gaza and the West Bank considered the same country? Different? Civil war?

  16. Doesn’t mean that we will help

A nice word doesn’t coat much

  17. Interesting move, hope this problem can be solved peacefully

  18. A pointless and performative action that will nonetheless help negotiate with muslim states to sell them stuff.

  19. It’s actually funny how noone in the comments has yet realized that treating Palestinians as a state creates a clear-cut situation regarding terror attacks against Israel. Currently, missiles are launched from Gaza in a sort of legal vacuum. In the same manner, the Fatah government can claim that the suicide bomber to whoose families it pays rents are acting as private persons. A Palestinian state would quite clearly commit an act of war through any terror attack. Having their own state would also remove the premise for the vast money flows via the UN – Palestinians were the top receivers of development aid with 400$ per capita and year before the war.

  20. Bravo bravo bravo!!! We see a genocide live while sitting on our couches, the recognition is the absolutely basic to do. NOW, because rn we have enough victims to cry out of guilt for a lifetime.

  21. And who will run said state? last time they checked the popular vote went to Hamas

  22. Two-state solution is dead, there is no way it will ever work with so much hatred towards the Jewish people. How many times does Israel have to defend themselves from terrorist before we learn? They are not going to stop before Israel has been destroyed.

  23. Let’s hope there will be a program to rebuild Palestine like there was for West Germany even if it means installing a US puppet govt (wich will probably be for the best, no more Hamas shit)

  24. That should have been done in June. I start to think he uses this card to negotiate US trade negotiation war

  25. It’s incredibly performative, of course, but it’s still step 1. Still need to stop the deaths (and therefore stop the mass indoctrination of Palestinians into a terrorist group), give them enough support to thrive, and then bring Israel to heel so that they can’t bolster the next terrorist group that wants to prolong the conflict.

  26. Macaroon should focus on recognition of Paris as France capital as it’s becoming Kabul. Oh well, when he’s got no other way to satisfy his voters, he sells his country for Sharia laws. Time will tell if this was the right decision. And as long as DT is still the US president in September, I highly doubt it will actually happen.

  27. You can quite easily tell that all the posts related to Palestinians get heavily brigaded by the upvote Numbers. In exactly one hour, this post had 2300 upvotes. These are more upvotes than what all but three of todays top posts have.

  28. Is ISIS up next for recognition too?

    How about another terrorist state?
