The Town of Barnstable is currently updating its Open Space and Recreation Plan (OSRP). An Open Space and Recreation Plan is a tool through which a community plans for the future of its conservation and recreation resources.
A community meeting with be held in person Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 6:00 PM at Barnstable Town Hall (367 Main Street, Hyannis – 2nd Floor James H. Crocker Jr. Hearing Room). The objective of the meeting is to obtain insight into issues and opportunities related to the Town’s open space and recreation resources.
Additionally, the Town of Barnstable has launched a survey to better understand the importance of parks, trails, conservation areas, recreation programs and other opportunities. Public input will be a crucial component in updating the OSRP which will ultimately provide a blueprint to guide the Town’s plans, investments, policies, and regulations in support of protecting and enhancing open space and recreation resources.
The survey can be accessed at the following link: https://tinyurl.com/BarnstableOSRPSurvey
The survey is available in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Hard copies of the survey are available at each of the Town’s libraries, the Hyannis Youth & Community Center (141 Bassett Lane, Hyannis) and the Barnstable Adult Community Center (825 Falmouth Rd, Hyannis). The survey is open through Sunday, August 17, 2025.
