Jeremy Harraden’s Farmington River Tubing has seen a high demand during a hot summer, offering cool rides and fun on the waterways from New Hartford to Canton.
NEW HARTFORD, Conn. — Every season presents different challenges for Jeremy Harraden, the owner of Farmington River Tubing, but this summer season, there has been a steady flow on the river.
Also flowing? The number of customers coming to take a relaxing ride from New Hartford to Canton via an oversized innertube.
“It’s been a great year this year. The weather is on our side, the water is on our side, lots of people are coming out to have fun in the river so it’s been a great season,” Harraden said.
In previous years, flooding rains have caused all sorts of issues for Harraden at his 40-year-old family business. Not this year though.
And a recent heat wave has been welcomed along their stretch of the Farmington.
“The hotter it is, the more people come and the happier we are,” he said.
Harraden added that on a sultry summer weekend, Farmington River Tubing is fully staffed with lifeguards and bus drivers to accommodate around 500 customers a day.
“Spend a few hours floating down the river and get your chill on,” he laughed.
