WASHINGTON – Vice President JD Vance will visit Canton on Monday as part of Trump administration efforts to tout the “One Big, Beautiful” tax and spending bill that Congress approved earlier this month.

Vance’s office said the vice president’s visit will include an appearance at a steel plant.

The legislation he’ll tout cuts taxes, boosts border security, and reduces spending on programs like Medicaid and food stamps. The Congressional Budget Office estimates it will increase deficits by $3.4 trillion over the next decade.

Vance was called to the U.S. Senate to break a 50-50 tie vote on its passage after Republicans Rand Paul of Kentucky, Susan Collins of Maine, and Thom Tillis of North Carolina sided with Democrats in opposing the legislation.

Now, he’s promoting its benefits throughout the country. During a trip to a Pennsylvania machine shop earlier this month, the Cincinnati Republican described the legislation as “transformational.”

He told workers at Don’s Machine Shop in West Pittston that due to Trump’s leadership, “if you work overtime, the federal government is not going to take a dime of that overtime. You earn that money, you ought to keep it in your pocket.”

He said it reward oil and gas companies for investing in building and developing the United States.

“After four years of broken energy policy, we are finally going to drill, baby drill, and invest in American energy workers,” said Vance.

He said the legislation will give tax breaks to companies that invest in the United States instead of sending jobs overseas and predicted Trump’s tariffs on foreign goods will add to the job creation.

“Part of the big, beautiful agenda is saying that, if you’re going to build something in the United States of America, we’re going to reward you, and we’re going to fight for you, but if you want to build something overseas, you’re going to pay a big, fat tariff before you bring it back into the United States of America,” said Vance. “And that’s exactly how it should be.”
