  1. *Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who is chairing Asean in 2025, has said Thailand and Cambodia have expressed willingness to agree to a ceasefire and to withdraw their troops from the border, following a call with both leaders on July 24.*

    *Mr Hun Manet said in a Facebook post on July 25: “I made it clear… that Cambodia agreed with his proposal for a ceasefire because Cambodia did not initiate this fighting.”*

    *But he said that, after an hour, the Thai government backtracked on its decision on the ceasefire.*

    *“Therefore, the key to resolving the current armed conflict between Thailand and Cambodia is the genuine willingness of the Thai side to accept a ceasefire,” he said.*

  2. While pedantic, I know, 16 people have definitely died before. In fact, it’s currently happening in Ukraine every day. Furthermore, violence during the Pol Pot bullshit and the Vietnam war absolutely spilled over into other regions at times.

  5. Before this whole conflict Cambodia already asked Thailand to court, but Thailand rejected claiming the international court is biased

    A second time which they rejected again. I’m going to bet Thailand isn’t going to agree with international mediator.

  9. Do we have any strongly worded letters yet? Or perhaps some condemnations, I’m sure the Thailand and Cambodian government would be quacking in the boots if other world leaders decide to settle on such a momentous action

For some time now, i have wondered if all the conflicts in the world are really just excuses for the rich and powerful to justify spending all of their tax money on something other than making their citizens lives better. I almost feel like all of these conflicts are nothing but a show sometimes with real life consequences for the low and downtrodden while the powerful watch their population control measures at work and insider trading on defense contracts payout. It may be cynical but I think this is the world we live in today and we are all just pawns in a super wealthy version of chess.
