  1. On July 22, the Ukrainian Parliament passed a law that places independent anti-corruption bodies — NABU and SAPO — under the control of the Prosecutor General, who is appointed by the President.

    Critics say the move threatens the independence of institutions created after the 2014 Revolution of Dignity and undermines Ukraine’s progress in the fight against corruption.

    Despite the ongoing war, thousands of Ukrainians across the country took to the streets in protest — defending the democratic values they’ve been fighting for since 2014.

  3. So why has the the Ukrainian parliament decided to do this?

  4. Because they are a democracy. Whatever Zelenskyy is doing, and it sounds like a 4D chess move, they don’t like it, potentially because they don’t have all the info and are worried about their future in the EU. Protests are healthy. Let them vent until the president explains his actions.
