Croatia has once again been recognised as one of the most desirable destinations for British travellers.
In the Telegraph Travel Awards 2025, based on votes from readers of The Telegraph, Croatia was ranked among the best countries in Europe, securing sixth place on the list.
The respected British newspaper gathered votes from around 20,000 readers who chose their favourite destinations across the globe.
In the European category, Croatia came in sixth, ahead of popular countries such as Spain and France. Greece took the top spot in this year’s rankings.
“This vote, organised by one of the most influential media outlets in the United Kingdom, confirms Croatia’s status as a highly recognisable Mediterranean destination,” said Bisera Fabrio, Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board Office in the UK.
“British travellers are known for being active and engaged holidaymakers. Despite economic and security challenges around the world, they continue to travel abroad and spend their holidays discovering new places – and Croatia remains high on their list,” she added.
Croatia’s popularity with British tourists is also reflected in this year’s visitor numbers. So far in 2025, there have been approximately 420,000 arrivals from the UK and around 2 million overnight stays. Compared to the same period last year, this represents a 1 percent increase in arrivals and a 3 percent rise in overnight stays.
The majority of overnight stays were recorded in Dubrovnik-Neretva and Split-Dalmatia counties, as well as in Istria. Top destinations for British visitors included Dubrovnik, Split, Župa Dubrovačka, Rovinj, Zadar and Pula.
British interest in Croatia is further highlighted in The Times, which recently published a feature on some of the most beautiful beaches on the Croatian coast.
The article singled out the stunning coves of Stračinska on the island of Šolta, Raduča in Primošten, and Pupnatska Luka on Korčula. Beaches on Lošinj, Brač, Hvar, Lopud and Dugi Otok were also mentioned.
