  1. It’s either that or wait for a country with no navy to turn it into a submarine.

  2. A major symbolic shift Russia moving away from traditional naval power, maybe out of necessity more than strategy

  3. No! At least spend another couple of billion dollars on it first. Gotta keep those corrupt oligarchs happy.
Not to mention, watching ruZZia destroy itself is always fun

  4. It’s not operational anyway. Russia lacks the money to operate a modern fleet.

  5. Who the hell would buy that heap of junk, does it come with the all too necessary tug for when it break down?

  6. The right question is, why dafak wants to buy it?

  7. It’s a complete POS

It’s not nuclear. It needs constant refueling because it basically runs on mildly refined crude oil.

  8. The poor Bangladeshi scrapers when they find out why the lower decks are welded shut

  9. The Russian Navy has always been a prestige project more than a military branch.

Look, I know we all want to live in a world where everyone gets to live their dream, get whatever job they want, etc, but this is a painful truth: some people just aren’t suited for some jobs. Some people just aren’t suited for some roles.

And some countries, try as they might since Peter the Great, just are not naval nations. It’s just not in their blood. They will throw billions if not trillions into the attempt, get tens of thousands of their sailors killed over the years, and still just not “get” that naval life.

And that’s the Russians to a tee.

It’s just not something they’re good at. Honestly, they should just accept that, move on, and save a lot of money and effort. This would be an indication that their economic situation is poor enough that they’re just not going to bother with ego projects.

For Putin, who idolizes Peter the Great, to give up on the Russian Navy is a particular blow since Peter the Great founded the Russian Navy.

But they’ve never been very good. They’ve never been very effective. They have designed some of the weirdest, most ridiculous ships in naval history. If you want an easy source, look up the Russian Navy under the Drachinifel YouTube channel.

I mean, the Russians built a ROUND warship. That then just spun around in circles until they changed the keel.

    The Second Pacific Squadron.

    The Kursk.

The K-19, which wasn’t nicknamed “the Widowmaker” despite the movie. It had the much less terrifying nickname of “Hiroshima”. 😳

The Russian Navy has not won (to be fair, they haven’t fought many, either) a significant naval battle since the Age of Sail. And even then, about half those victories were against the Ottomans, who weren’t great shakes on the water, either.

Honestly, I’m just really embarrassed for the Swedes…

  10. It was doomed once the floating dock it was in sank, causing even more damage to it.

  11. This isn’t fair! There’s so many more materials it could waste!

  12. That’s nice but what about Epstein Epstein Epstein just to keep it viral

  13. “I can fix her” – a small round North Korean probably.

  14. Russia doesn’t need aircarft carriers. The countries it wants to invade are next door.

  15. It was kind of hilarious that that pile of junk was presented as a threat to the US Navy in the last Mission: Impossible movie.

  16. Ruzzian military is so superb. Superb to a point being scrapped to useless.

  17. Too bad. The ship did service to Ukraine by diverting resources and money into trying to make it “operational” again.

No one will want to purchase a ship like Kuznetsov.

  18. You can get USS Flagg on eBay for $2000 so maybe they’re just gonna use that?

  19. Sold for scrap is the likely answer. China doesn’t want it since they actually rebuilt the sister ship into a reliable training vessel and they have a second carrier already built with a third underway. Idk who would want a poorly maintained fire damaged husk of a ship
