Of course, it’s Reform taking more public funds for their personal benefit.
£3.5k for a year’s worth of expenses attending events etc?
Doesn’t seem like much considering the role is also unpaid…
They don’t give the actual amounts in the headline because it would be clear how petty the sums are — it’s an increase from £500 -> £3,500 per year.
Its gone from 500 quid to 3500, i mean its really nothing what can 3k buy you on a local level. If he is actually doing work fair game to the lad
If he’s spending 3.5k on attending events as part of his duties it’s perfectly OK. Same as MP expenses. Nobody should be out of pocket for doing their job. I think there are better ways to do this than handing over cash and getting receipts but making public office so expensive that only rich people can afford to do it is not very progressive is it?
Id be interested if the people saying “doesnt seem like a lot of money” would say that if a Green or Labour run council did the same.
I was at a conference hosted by this chap earlier in the year. His speech was from ChatGPT and he struggled reading his own notes.
I was good friends with the mayor of a town in Dorset, similar size to Scarborough about 20 years ago. Apart from maybe the occasional taxi he never had to pay for anything out of pocket, certainly nothing worth claiming expenses for. It was just attending official dinners and civic events locally.
30% of the UK public:
Hmm things haven’t been going well, time to try fascism!
