  1. Arthur’s a bit Welsh, a bit Norman, a bit English, Breton, and French. So long as his origin in Wales is respected all’s good.

  2. It’s much more complicated than saying he is Welsh or English as neither is correct.

  3. He might be.

We have no primary source indicating that a historical ‘Arthur’ was from anywhere in particular, only that he fought the Saxons. It is as plausible he was from Dumnonia as one of the Welsh Kingdoms.

I would argue the people of South East England have as much of a cultural claim as Wales do

  4. Could be Rhegedian, could be welsh, could be Cornish. But the most common version of the myth is mostly French

  5. King Arthur never existed, so arguing where he’s from is like arguing where Batman is from. Is Gotham City based on New York? Who cares?

  6. This sort of post makes me smile.

As much as our Welsh and Scottish compatriots dislike admitting it, we’re all from the same island and our history, myths, legends and culture are so inextricably Intertwined that it’s a pretty moot point.

  7. Camelot was founded on the site of the execution of two saints, ONLY CHESTER has this.
