Hei alle sammen,
As the title states, my grandmother gave me a birthday gift from Norway that's been in the family since my family moved to Canada. There's a cork stopper on the top and spout, so I don't think it's for tea. No one in the family knows what it's for. Just wondering if anyone can help!
Tusen takk!

For some sort of oil? Kerosene?
Edit: I have no idea
To add to the confusion, that engraved cock (rooster!) on the lid looks a lot like the one on the mark from the Sætre biscuits.
From what I could find online, it’s a kettle or teapot.
I reverse image searched it and found this description of someone selling the same thing on Etsy: “This vintage pewter teapot by Brødrene Mylius is such a charming piece of Norwegian folk art, featuring an etched rooster motif that adds a rustic, storybook feel.
The cork lid and curved handle give it that perfect blend of old-world charm and practical design. Whether you use it as a serving piece or display it in your kitchen, it brings warmth, tradition, and a touch of whimsy to any space.”
Pewter pots were also used to store beer, I think, grandpa had one at least (not the same design but same material).
It’s an antique tin pot (pewter), usually for coffee or tea. If it’s an old family hairloom, it might be from the 18-hundreds, but it’s difficult to judge based on the images.
