An orange warning is in effect in Croatia today due to expected thunderstorms and heavy rain.

The State Hydrometeorological Institute announced that a yellow warning is in effect in Slavonia.

Meteorologists are warning citizens to be prepared to protect themselves and their property.

“Be prepared for a stronger thunderstorm that can cause major damage. Local flash floods, stormy winds and hail are possible,” the Hydrometeorological Institute warned.

Flooding of property and the transport network is possible, as well as interruptions in electricity and water supplies, the statement said.

According to the meteorologist’s forecast, today in Croatia will be variably cloudy with sunny periods and unstable, with rain or thunderstorms in places.

Heavy precipitation is expected towards the evening and during the night, and thunderstorms are also possible.
