One upside with a VPN – if you have streaming services like Netflix, you can watch shows and films available in other countries which aren’t available on Netflix UK.
So technically it’s made it more flexible for how Brits access streaming services, while attempting to (and failing) to solve an issue that could never be solved anyway, because it’s lazy legislation for the technologically illiterate.
Edit: And they can be useful to watch YouTube videos which may be region locked/blocked.
If you add a VPN to your router, you can technically stream with any castable device as well, or add additional apps to your smart TV, but some TVs can be funny about it and remove apps, or use whatever region you’ve set it to e.g. aerial/satellite TV instead of the VPN, but that’s fairly unusual for most makes and models.

Why was this act put in place, who asked for this and said we want it? Did labour just do it without anyone saying they’re happy with it, like it’s just something they pulled out there ass and said we’re doing it?
