This is the single best abridged take of what I’ve been trying to tell ppl on pro Ukrainian subs.
Plenty here seemed to get this message, but I know for a fact that sometimes I got downvoted pretty significantly.
I know the very very large majority here genuinely care about Ukrainains, but this exposed a definite issue in that some here have kinda put the Ukrainian govt and Zelensky on a pedestal or just came off dismissive not considering what got people into the streets.
There have been other tense matters that could’ve gotten Ukrainians into their streets, but this was something that was clear cut breach of trust. This even got residents of Kharkiv to show up in big numbers too. They live on Orcistan’s doorstep and they want nothing with any business that could smell like stuff their genocidal neighbor would do.
I had a brief reflexive feeling when this first came up of “Oh, this is probably some Russian psyop” but then I remembered I’m some burger eating dipshit in the suburbs of a completely different continent and I decided to just sit on my hands and see what’s going on first before I even thought about telling anyone anything.
