On the night of July 27, Russian forces launched new strikes on the cities of Kharkiv and Sumy, resulting in numerous injuries and significant damage. Protests continue in Kyiv, now in their fifth day, triggered by the adoption of the law on NABU. Meanwhile, in the Kharkiv region, the Armed Forces of Ukraine eliminated Russian Colonel Lebedev. Lithuania also announced its intention to allocate up to 30 million euros for the purchase of Patriot systems for Ukraine.
On the evening of July 26, the Russian army shelled Sumy, injuring three people, including a 43-year-old man in moderate condition. The shelling damaged civilian infrastructure, including the regional state administration building, a residential building, and a café.
On the night of July 27, Kharkiv was attacked by Russian drones, with at least five explosions recorded. There were hits on a private house, as well as fires that broke out in several districts of the city.
In Kyiv, near the Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theater, protests against law No. 12414, which limits the independence of NABU and SAP, have been ongoing for the fifth day. On July 26, about a hundred people gathered in the square demanding a review of the law and the restoration of the powers of anti-corruption agencies. Among the protesters was MP Maryana Bezuhla, who had previously voted for this law but later left the “Servant of the People” faction.
The protests began on July 22 after the adoption of the document allowing the Prosecutor General to interfere in the activities of NABU and SAP.
In the Kharkiv region, Ukrainian troops from the “Khortytsia” group eliminated the commander of the Russian 83rd Motorized Rifle Regiment, Colonel Lebedev, who was responsible for assaults in the Velykoburlutsk direction. This information was released on July 26.
Lithuanian Defense Minister Dovile Sakaliene announced plans to allocate up to 30 million euros for the purchase of Patriot systems for Ukraine during a meeting with U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on July 25. She also supported U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to arm Ukraine at the expense of NATO allies. Lithuania has already invested over 200 million dollars in developing infrastructure for American troops on its territory.
Earlier, NATO confirmed that active consultations are ongoing regarding the provision of additional Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine.
