Two Israelis questioned in Brussels over alleged Gaza war crimes • FRANCE 24 English

say they have briefly held and questioned two Israeli citizens who attended an electronic music festival after pro Palestinian groups accused them of war crimes. The European Jewish Association criticizing Belgian authorities for acting on what it called a politically motivated complaint. We’re going to get to the bottom of this now with France 24’s Brussels correspondent Dave Keading. Dave, what more can you tell us? Well, they these two Israelis were attending the Tomorrowland Festival, which is a really big festival here in Belgium that’s known around the world. There are a lot of Israelis attending that. There’s plenty of images you can find with Israelis uh waving uh Israel flags, people waving Palestinian flags. But what seems to have caught the attention of these two rights groups is that these two Israelis who are in the IDF were waving a flag of the Givati Brigade which is a specific brigade that they have accused of committing war crimes in Gaza. And so these two organizations which are the Hind Rajab Foundation and the Global Legal Action Network brought this complaint to the Belgian authorities saying that these two individuals should be brought in. Now, the the Belgian government says that they did uh bring in these two individuals for questioning. They questioned them and then released them. They haven’t given out any more information either about what they questioned them about or what their intentions are with this going forward. But the foundation is saying that this sets a very big precedent. And they’ve welcomed the Belgian authorities bringing those two individuals in for questioning because they say this is the first time that any country in Europe has acted on this universal jurisdiction principle that two individuals could be brought in for questioning for war crimes committed in Gaza. Alleged war crimes that these foundations are saying. So they’re saying basically even if this doesn’t result in any arrest or any further action, the very the very fact that Belgium took this action will set a precedent for other countries going forward. Dave, thank you for that. Prince 24’s Dave Keading in Brussels.

Belgian authorities detained and questioned two Israeli men—one a soldier—at the Tomorrowland festival in Brussels, following war crimes complaints linked to the Gaza conflict. The accusations, filed by human rights groups, include use of human shields and destruction of civilian infrastructure. Both men were later released without charges, but the case marks a rare use of Belgium’s universal jurisdiction law to investigate alleged Israeli actions in Gaza. FRANCE 24’s Dave Keating has more from Brussels.

  1. Israeli in Nova music festival are either active member or IDF reserve, so they are basically concentration guard who are holding party blasting megawatt power while their captives only have 6 hours per day of electricity including hospitals.

  2. These comments are stupid as hell. "I hate those guys even though I've never been there, don't know dick about that and can't find it on a map."

  3. Oh no, questioned! Yes, that's worse than bombed, tortured, starved, shot, imprisoned, displaced and orphaned.
