Hi.
So recently I had a mater to attend to in Bergen(I live in Stockholm.) Needed my car for it so I decided to take the opportunity and explore a bit but return home in time for work.
First day I took the road to Oslo and later Road 7 to Bergen. The wether was very good and the views are of needless to say amazing. I stopped often to take a small stroll an absorb the beauty. I quickly started appreciating the many resting places that have been made along the route. It is a small but wonderful thing. Big thumbs up for that!
Towards the evening I was starting to search for a camping spot. I was looking for something a bit remote or less populated. Road 7 is busy in general. When I entered the highlands and drove up to lake Ørteren I was so amazed by the area that I decided to stay there. I found a very nice spot and met a sweet norwegian granny there.
It was windy but warm, I set up my tent and enjoyed the beautiful sunset from a nearby height. I fell in love with that place.
Day two. I left for Bergen. Eidfjord was beautiful. And ofcourse when we entered Bergen kommun the nature was breathtaking, I drove all the way to the city, attended the matter and started planning my way back. I settled to return to Ørteren and spend the night there again. I liked the place and already had a good spot. So I did.
Day three I decided to take a swim in the lake and had shortly after my breakfeast interrupted by two sheep. They joined me and we had some oats together. Afterwards I took a walk around the hills. It is heaven on earth.
After lunch I had to leave and instead of taking the same road back I decided to take some country roads towards Dalarna and see the not so touristy parts of Norway and observe how people in these places live.
All in all I would say I think norway is something to behold, and it is definitly worth it to get away from the tourist roads.
I want to return, I will
most likely visit the highlands for a much longer time. And I definitly want to spend some time with the people aswell. It is sad I had to be in a rush, Norway is amazing.
