The future queen of Spain, Leonor, is in Switzerland to watch the final of the Women’s 2025 Euros as her country’s players aim for an historic double.
Spain are current reigning world champions and are hoping to add the Euros to that tally.
Two princesses cheering on their footballers
Princess Leonor, 19, who has just returned from over six months at sea as part of her naval training will be at the St. Jakob-Park Stadium in Basel to cheer them on.
Her younger sister, Infanta Sofia, is also attending the match. The eighteen year old is a passionate football fan and has been in the stands to see the Spanish women’s side clinch the World Cup in 2023 and the men’s side take the title in the Euros 2024.

Princess Leonor is one of the most popular members of the Spanish royal family with her every move making headlines. Since her return from her year with the Spanish navy, she’s already presented major awards that bear the name of one of her titles as heir to the throne – Princess of Girona.
She’s more usually called the Princess of Asturias, the main title given to the first in line to the throne of Spain.
Spain’s future queen meets another heir
Leonor will be rubbing shoulders with another heir as Prince William will also be in Basel to watch the Euros final.
The Prince of Wales will be cheering on England with Princess Charlotte at his side, making this final a very royal event.
The princess, 10, is known to love football and has previously sent video messages to the Lionesses when they’ve reached major finals.

England will be hoping for a better result than their previous meeting with Spain. The two sides took on each other in the World Cup final in 2023 with Spain winning out in a tense match.
Spain start as favourites for the title although England are the defending champions.
