Like the government don’t just fucking ignore more than 300,000 opinions every day of the week?
They’ll just give some crappy response and the usual “protecting children” line and that’s it.
Governments tend to not like giving power / freedoms back once they’ve taken it.
Seeing as how they debated that petition to call a new election last year I think they will debate this, but I doubt anything will come out of it. It’ll purely just be for show so they can be like “see, we debated. But we’re not gonna do anything about it”.
To all the people saying “They won’t do anything about it” thinking that they are the first people to ever comment that, we know.
It’s just interesting to see how high the number will go so we can see how non democratic their inevitable response will be
United kingdom of gooners
do you have to use your real name to sing these things?
I’ll just use my vpn as always . It’s an empty gesture that only affects people who are technologically illiterate. Which isn’t the youth they’re trying to protect . It’s their stupid parents and grandparents who’ve never heard of things like VPN. Much like the people who voted for this shite .
I just want to alert you all. This is a done deal-signatures or not.
Not going change a thing.
And to think; all it’s doing is pushing teenagers to the more underground porn sites that are completely unregulated and contain far worse content (and are probably riddled with malware), while blocking safe spaces where kids/people with issues such as abuse or addiction can get help.
*Slow clap* Well done government, well done indeed.
😒
It ain’t about the kids – authoritarians want a face to your online activity and there’s some sort of money behind it, either VPN companies or the US verification companies, it’s too profitable to overturn.
600,000 blue balls.
Repealed laws are very rare. No one is going to even think about dropping this law now. The press would do an absolute hatchet job on any party that even considered it. Unless there are well publicised direct consequences from third parties fucking up and causing significant financial issues to the banks, it stays.
I can’t even see that an ITV drama called “Master Bates Versus the Face Stealers” is going to help.
Would it be sensible to consider a debate at 100k and guarantee a debate at 500k ?
300,000 gooners and counting
“what radicalised you?”
that’s one hundred thousand per day that’s fucking hilarious
Crazy how you can still access the really dark and seedy sites but not the regular safe porn sites….or so I’ve heard
This has nothing to do with porn. It’s about requiring an online passport to see anything with an 18+ rating online.
That includes blocking coverage of protests and riots.
This is some CCP level censorship .
They’ll give some canned response about protecting children Reform will say they’ll repeal it and they’ll win in 2029 and enact their plan to ruin this country for anyone who’s not rich enough to buy them off
300,101 people desperate for an anonymous wank. Make that 300,102 🫡
It’s an IT illiterate approach and one that puts UK citizens at risk of fraud. Find a better solution or get parents to install parental controls by default. This is a terrible solution and needs to be removed. Dumb governments.
They won’t repeal it. These sites have spent a lot of money conforming to this new rule. If it’s repealed is the government going to compensate them? That would be funny, the UK Government writing BangBus a cheque. It’s likely here to stay.
They won’t repeal it. They will frame it as look at all these people who want children to access adult material they should be disgusted with themselves
You don’t need an ID to cross the border and be put up in a hotel, but you need one to use the internet. It all makes sense, boys. You just need to take some classes in mental gymnastics
Done
Can’t they just take the names off everyone who’s signed it and somehow unblock the firewall
The hilarious aspect to all this is the fact that these 300,000 who don’t trust the government, trust them enough to vote for this rubbish.
It’s not like you lied when filling out the petition
Those people in Westminster will know what those sad villagers in Pompeii felt like! Except, instead of hot lava raining down, we’ll rain down frothy ejaculate!
If they were really trying to protect kids they should just inform parents to block those sights on the kids phones or through their home WiFi
Am I a fool for just giving proof of age?
The police will be onto that petition like a laser… 😂
I think the conversation should be around better implementation rather than a flat out repeal.
I just wanna appreciate the female body, Starmer! You private school wanker
What annoys me is that I’ve done it for one of my reddit accounts, but when I switch to a different one, it wants me to do it again.
There’s a lady on TikTok who’s shown all the links between this and conservative Christian groups, and American data miners.
