Toprak Razgatlioglu (1st, 1st, 1st)
“It was an amazing weekend. We started very strong because this is a new track for everyone. I adapted quickly. We did a good job with my team. I’m happy with this. The Superpole Race was very difficult due to many wet patches on track. We just had a dry line but some parts were still wet. We didn’t make a mistake, just riding and focused on pace. This race was very important because I won races 800 and 900, and I needed to win 1000! I’m really happy. This is a very special race for me. I’m not on focused on the Championship, I’m looking race by race; this is very important for me. The next race is at Magny-Cours and last year I didn’t race there. I’ll try to get a hat-trick there. I hope we win again because I’m on consecutive nine wins. Magny-Cours is one of my favourite tracks and I need to win there because Aragon and Jerez, I think all Ducatis will be very strong. We’re the Championship leader and we’ve got a bigger gap, but this is racing and everything is possible.”

Nicolo Bulega (2nd, 13th, 2nd)
“Unfortunately, this morning I made a mistake in my tyre choice. It was my decision, and I am very sorry for the team. In Race 2, I started with great determination and achieved the best possible result on this track. It’s clear that in the next races we’ll have to take a step forward that will allow us to fight for the win again.”

Sam Lowes (6th, 2nd, 3rd)
“I’m really happy with how Sunday went. Yesterday was obviously a low point. But we’ve managed to bounce back well as a group and a team, which is mega. The bike worked really well today. It was positive to be fast in Warm-Up when it wasn’t fully dry at the beginning. Also, when it dried up, I felt good. This is positive going forward as there are four rounds to go and there is a good chance of it being wet toward the end of the year. Then, the races ended up being pretty dry, which was a surprise after looking at the forecast. I’m always happy to ride in the dry and dry results mean more. So, I’m delighted with that. I want to say a massive thank you to the team for their work this weekend. It’s a new circuit and it was a big job for everybody. We had no previous data here so it was really hard work. I’m just really happy with the results. Thanks to everyone who helped and now we can look forward to a few weeks off. Let’s now look forward to coming back at Magny-Cours and keeping this run going!”

Alvaro Bautista (3rd, 3rd, DNF)
“I am pleased with this morning’s result. It was great to be on the podium in the 1000th race in WorldSBK history. I got off to a good start in Race 2, and the feeling seemed to be better. Unfortunately, on lap 6, I went a little wide and lost the front. It’s a shame because we were very close to third place. We’ll try again in France.”

Andrea Locatelli (4th, 4th, 5th)
“I think it was a positive weekend – this morning during the Superpole Race, without the mistake and running off the track when I was trying to overtake Petrucci, maybe I would have been able to fight until the end with Bautista for the podium. Since Misano we have been working well, solid weekends and solid results, so this is at the moment the most important thing. We need to look forward and improve a little bit more – we all want more and we can do it! We are not so far from always being able to fight for the podium. I am quite happy, but maybe a bit disappointed because it was a new track and a new challenge, so to get one podium here would have been nice. I did my best, I did 100% on the bike and working well with my guys from Friday, so we will see what happens in Magny-Cours. I go to Japan tomorrow for the Suzuka 8 Hours race, so for sure I will take a rest after that!”

Danilo Petrucci (5th, —, 4th)
“It’s been quite a chaotic weekend, especially after what happened yesterday in Race 1. This morning in the Superpole Race I took a gamble with intermediates, but they only worked for the first couple of laps. I led briefly, then the track started to dry and those on slicks were way faster. Unfortunately, I lost ninth place on the last lap, which meant starting from P11 in Race 2. I managed a strong comeback, just missed the podium. I tried to stay with Sam Lowes, but in the last 6-7 laps I had an issue with the helmet visor, it fogged up with sweat and I couldn’t see anything. I’m disappointed not to be on the podium, but we gave it everything. We managed to hold on to third in the championship, even though we clearly weren’t the fastest this weekend.”

Xavi Vierge (8th, 5th, 7th)
“Considering how the weekend started on Friday, we were able to make some improvements, and overall, I think it turned into a solid weekend. Today especially, as the Superpole Race was a positive one. We knew we had a good opportunity because, with those track conditions, we were better able to make up for our weak points. We made a good tyre choice and started the race well. It was a pity about the contact with Montella; he hit me really hard at turn 11 shortly after the start of the race. The impact was strong enough to trigger my airbag, and for almost half a lap I could barely breathe. Of course, I lost ground and contact with the front group fighting for the podium. Still, finishing in the top five was a good result and allowed me to start from the second row in Race 2, which was helpful. In the long race, I made a another good start, but unfortunately, as the laps went by, I kept struggling with edge grip and drive. It’s difficult for me to manage that because as soon as I try to go with the group in front, the tyres spin more and overheat. We’ve also struggled in the braking zones here, which made things even more complicated. I had to accept the pace I had and just manage it to the end. P7 is not the result we want, especially with such a big gap to the front. But this is our situation, we understand our problems, and we’re giving our best with what we have. Now we’ll focus on the test in Aragon in about three weeks’ time. There, we’ll try different set-ups, but without losing sight of our current base which gives me good feeling with the front of the bike. As soon as we lose that, we’re lost — just like we were on Friday and during the last round. We must keep that feeling no matter what, and try to limit our weak points as much as possible.”

Dominique Aegerter (12th, 8th, 8th)
“What happened in the Superpole Race is a shame, unfortunately. Our race pace was very good and the tyre choice was correct, I felt good and probably we could have fought for fourth, at least top five, which would have helped a lot in Race 2. Unluckily another rider crashed in front of me and I was forced to drop places too; I tried to recover as much as I could, but it wasn’t enough to stay inside the top-9. In Race 2 we showed again good pace, but it wasn’t easy to make my way through the field. Anyway, the rhythm wasn’t bad and I could almost catch the group fighting for sixth, I feel we had the pace to stay there, but starting from so behind didn’t help. Let’s now enjoy the Summer break, targeting to be back much stronger for the final races of the year.”

Axel Bassani (10th, 9th, 9th)
“We have reached the end of the first WorldSBK round in Balaton and it has been a good weekend. I have enjoyed the people around the track; they are really good fans. Also the track is quite nice. I think we did two good races today, in P6 and finally P9. With both Sunday race finishes inside the top ten, that is really good. We were not starting near the front, so we made a really good recovery. We had some hard times but in the end we finished in a good way. Thank you to the team for all the effort that they put in this weekend, trying to give me the best solution on track. Now we will have some rest and after that will come the last four rounds of the season.”

Garrett Gerloff (9th, —, DNF)
“In the end I am not too bad; it was just unfortunate. It would be tough to race today – I am not going to lie – but I had painkillers yesterday and that has made me unfit for Sunday’s races. But, I am OK; just beaten up and I am hurting pretty bad. But, we have a long time until the next round so I will be fine. I wish I was out there racing again today. Thank you to everybody for the messages and the support.”

Alex Lowes (6th, —, —)
“Two different races today. I missed an opportunity in the Superpole race. I should have been on slick tyres, but we went with intermediates. I think on slicks those would have been my sort of conditions. It was our decision and we didn’t make the right decision. We had no chance really as the track was drying really fast. My pace in the longer race was good, but it was hard to pass on this track, in general. So, starting in 12th place on the grid was not the easiest thing. I think I was 14th on lap one. To finish sixth in the race was a good ride. I passed a few people and enjoyed the race. I rode the bike with settings that were quite a bit different from yesterday, so we could learn a bit more. That was quite good. First time here at Balaton and I enjoyed the track. It was constant work all weekend to try and get the bike to work better. I think I rode well and taking three finishes and some good information means we can have a few weeks off now and then prepare for the last races of the year.”

Yari Montella (7th, DNF, 10th)
“This was one of the toughest weekends of my career. The wet warm-up went well, so for the Superpole Race we chose intermediates, but in hindsight it wasn’t the right call. I crashed into a pretty big high side. We’re still not sure what caused it, but we think there was a damp patch. In Race 2, thanks to the incredible work of the team, we were able to get back on track. I started off cautiously, then found my rhythm and climbed up to tenth. This Top 10 result means a lot, considering everything that happened this weekend. Now we all need some rest and in a month we’ll be ready for Magny-Cours.”

Jonathan Rea (RET, 9th, 12th)
“This morning was wet, I didn’t have a really good feeling with the bike – just a lack of rear traction – and it was a little bit the same in the Superpole Race. We started with a drying line and when there were risks to be taken, I was ready to take those risks – but Vierge came underneath me at T4 and picked me up into the wet stuff. I lost so much track position and when I was coming back, Bulega was in front and he was slowing everyone down in the group with intermediate tyres. I just couldn’t get past him and it was frustrating. In the end I got up to P9 which got us a third-row grid start. Unfortunately, in the long Race 2, I struggled from the get-go with grip. I got a decent start and inside the top 6 in the first corner but without grip I was a sitting duck – vulnerable in the passing areas because I wasn’t getting off the corners well. I don’t feel like I was riding very well and to make it worse I didn’t have a great feeling with my bike today because we didn’t quite nail the set-up and I didn’t feel comfortable. It was one of the most frustrating weekends to be honest!”

Ryan Vickers (DNF, —, RET)
“I’m happy with the weekend here at Balaton, even though we had a bit of bad luck. We were in the top ten all weekend. Unfortunately, in Race 1 we were involved in a crash, but in the Superpole Race we achieved our best result of the season in seventh place, which was very good. In Race 2, we were having our best race of the year, in sixth place and with excellent pace, but I had to get a Long Lap Penalty for cutting the chicane. Unfortunately, I crashed after the penalty, but I’m still happy with the progress. The team is working really well, and we continue to improve.”
