So I come here every year to Barcelona since a little kid because my family is from here Last night something happened That Makes me Rethink The Safety of Our city .
I was in La Rambla Late at night After the club and Was walking to the closest metro Station to Go home, The usual Indians Or Africans that sell weed and hash on that Rambla Kept asking me If I wanted something legitimately every block eventually Some Indian or Pakistan guy on a biycle comes and asks me the same thing But isn’t taking no as a answer and is following me on his bike Eventually I just told him to leave me the fuck alone and he was like Do you own this Rambla or something along those lines and I still said get the fuck out of here after he said that eventually he pettled away I saw his Friend that was right beside him and I said You need to get ur friend in check or something along those lines No type of threat Said All of a sudden when I said that 3 Secret Undercover Police Crowd Me which I thought was the Indians friends trying to jump me they all had on touristy Hawaii button ups and started grabbing me didn’t show badge or say police when they started grabbing me so obviously I restrained and tried to fight back ripped one of the officers shirts off his back. 20 to 30 seconds After they grab me then they went On to say they were police and only 1 of the 3 showed the badge they threw me on the ground head first Choked me until I couldn’t breath or talk and almost I passed out which in Spain you shouldn’t do unless I’m a major threat they also ripped my silver chains straight off my neck which is pretty obvious in some of those pictures Not only that it was A 3v1 The Whole Time And they were using way too much force They Put me In Jail For the Night Because they said I resisted Which makes 0 sense What was the original Stop for what crime did I commit to be Stopped in the 1st place . Also when I was in the cell they tried framing me with cocaine will explain that in another thread Please Do What you guys Can to make My Story Heard.

  1. Are you sure they weren’t actually criminals that jumped you? Why would the police do this? – if you resisted like you rightly did, they would have arrested you on the spot. This seems like scammers trying to scare tourists.

  6. My reaction is of disbelief. It’s just hard to not think that you are omitting some important detail in your story. It is true that some police officers in Spain are corrupt, but abuse of force is extremely rare. If you are indeed innocent and your story is 100% accurate, then I apologize.

  8. I’d contact a lawyer if i were you. Just to be sure go to your nearest publuc hospital and ask to be seen by an emergency doctor. After they examine you ask for a printed lesions report. In case they try to give you shit at the airport or anything. Its better to be safe than sorry

  10. In Spain, police officers must identify themselves, but so do you, no probable cause or suspicion is required for them to require your Passport.

    Just failing to comply with that, or offering any type of resistance in regards to that, can be extended to ‘put you in Jail for the night’.

    If you had anything to drink, raised your voice at night, had no way to ID yourself, or displayed any type of unorderly behaviour (fighting, yelling, pushing) at night, you are setting yourself up as the perfect excuse to be targeted.

  26. The police could be useless against petty crimes and for sure there is corruption, you hear that from everyone. But this kind of police violance stories almost always comes from american tourists, which makes me think there are some issues in communications and what both sides expect from each other. It doesn’t seem like they would have anything to get from you, or just one psycho officer. To be honest chances seem low to me for 3-4 psycho officers to come together, just to harass some tourist at the middle of the night.

    I apologize if you are truly innocent in your case, but there is a pattern if you check reddit stories.

I mean, the undercover police don’t come from the middle of nowhere in the Ramblas to beat you up just for declining proposals from drug dealers… Something else happened… Maybe you were drunk as fuck or very high on drugs and started a fight with the Indian and African drug dealers? Then the undercover police came to save you from these thugs, but you, instead of listening to them, you also fought them, so they have to calm you down because you were out of your mind? The police in the Ramblas normally come to save or warn tourists from these ilegal immigrants and the Romanian pickpockets. They rarely take a fight against a tourist… unless they consider the tourist to be a threat to the rest of the people. I tell you they are and will always be on your side. There is more. They would love to have an excuse to get rid of those illegals who are destroying Barcelona’s reputation, just get them deported to the shithole countries they come from. They are destroying Europe.

  31. Honestly, I feel really bad for you and while idk you, everything you say, is something that could indeed happen. My guess is they thought you were buying and thougth they were gonna get a fine, which does not excuse it obviously.

    Ive had a completely made up fine one time for refusing to say what was my job or where I was going, when they stopped me out of the blue while walking. If they are that petty, yeah, imagine what they’do to cover up assault.

    However, id also tell you the chances of having justice for this are slim to none but if you have any contacts use them and even if chances are not good, you should do something about it, not just for you, but for everyone else who could be subject to the same thing. At least a complaint, but if you go in person take a lawyer, theyll try to turn it on you. I know it’s a hassle but dont let it slide, that just empowers them to keep doing it.

  33. It is a pity. I used to love Barcelona too (my granparents live there), but in the last years it’s become a hell of a city. Violence, thugs, insecurity… And the police doesn’t do anything about it… Except if you defend yourself, you saw it from firsthand.
