Prince Harry has reportedly offered to share his official schedule of engagements and outings with the royal family, in what appears to be the latest attempt to ease tensions between the sides after years of estrangement.

The proposal would allow transparency about the Duke of Sussex's scheduled events, avoiding conflicts between Harry and Meghan Markle's public outings and the British royal family's engagements — and therefore, claims of trying to overshadow each other, reports The Mail on Sunday. According to the outlet, Prince Harry's recent visit to Angola dominated newspapers, bumping off Queen Camilla's 78th birthday coverage.

In addition, sharing diaries could also hint toward the two camps finding a time for Prince Harry and King Charles to meet in person. The father and son were last together in February 2024, when the Duke of Sussex flew from California to the U.K. to see the King following the announcement of the monarch's cancer diagnosis. After a brief meeting between the two at Clarence House, Harry left the U.K. a day after his arrival.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's office declined to comment when reached by PEOPLE

The latest report comes after a private meeting was held on July 9 in London between two of Prince Harry’s aides and King Charles’ communications secretary.

“It was a good first step,” an insider told PEOPLE. “It is always better to be talking.”

Some close to the palace have downplayed the meeting, framing it as a professional exchange between communications staff. However, the meeting may have marked a tentative reopening of lines between father and son after years of near silence

It’s a positive step,” the insider said. “There’s optimism that it can be taken forward.”

In May, the Duke of Sussex said in an interview with the BBC that he would "love reconciliation with my family."

"There's no point in continuing to fight anymore,” he said, adding, "I don't know how much longer my father has," seemingly referencing King Charles' cancer diagnosis and ongoing treatment.

Despite apparent progress in Prince Harry and King Charles' relationship, Prince William and Kate Middleton were reportedly unaware of the meeting between the teams, underscoring the ongoing strain between the brothers.

It's no coincidence that William and Catherine did not have a representative at the Royal Over-Seas League," a friend reportedly told the Daily Mail. "They were not asked to send anyone and will be treating the talks with extreme caution."

The friend added, "The fact that it ended up in the newspapers tells you all you need to know."

  1. This is so messy. I do have sympathy for Harry, but the whole tell-all and interviews definitely left damage that might be irreparable. I’m not saying he’s wrong for doing so, but he should have been aware of the consequences from his family. Hopefully they get back on good terms, but I’m not sure if the relationships will ever be the same.

The royal family’s diary is already public. Camilla’s birthday is on the same day every single year. If they wanted to avoid conflicts and claims of trying to overshadow, they could simply not schedule things during royal family events.

ETA: How is this even an olive branch at all? Had these calendars been shared previously was the BRF supposed to reschedule **the Queens Birthday** to make room in the press for the 5th-in-line’s random trip abroad? What a magnanimous offer!

  3. I like him but how can they trust him again?

Also, how ridiculous that “his Angola visit overshadowed Camilla’s birthday.” Are you all children? Her birthday party got overshadowed in the press and it hurt her feelings? I can’t believe this is reported with a straight face, never mind that it’s treated as a valid concern that would necessitate knowing all his movements.

  4. So much for a “private meeting”. Wonder which side is briefing this (besides obviously William’s there at the end 👀).

  5. This is based off one of the three exclusive Charlotte Grifiths at the DM got last week.

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/royals/article-14943607/Prince-Harry-secret-visit-Botswana-weekend.html?ico=authors_pagination_mobile

This one that say Harry went to Botswana for a week and was “off grid” for three days. Spoiler she also was the one to get the exclusive he was going to Angola.

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/royals/article-14943623/Meghan-locked-negotiations-new-Netflix-deal-contract-expire.html?ico=authors_pagination_mobile

This article that says Meghan is still in negotiations but they can’t speak of it yet (but we can def leak it to the press)

    And this one:

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/royals/article-14943409/The-major-peace-offering-Prince-Harry-Royal-family-Insiders-tell-CHARLOTTE-GRIFFITHS-secret-talks-Team-Sussex-Palace-really-about.html?ico=authors_pagination_mobile

Which has insider details on what Harry’s team “offered” to BP. Which is what this PEOPLE article is rehashing.

But yes please tell me again that the Sussexes could not possibly ever leak to the DM or any UK outlet.

  6. I love the “friend” of the Wales snarking to the newspaper about the story of Harry and his father being public and reported by the newspapers.

  7. Harry, respectfully, I don’t think the Royal Family gives a flying fuck about your schedule. Provide it to them if you want, but they’re not going to take it into consideration when scheduling their own events.

  8. Don’t do it Harry, you are so much better off without them!
