  1. The opening of the war was absolutely insane. The number of helicopters and planes shot down by Ukraine, with untold numbers of infantry just *disappearing in a ball of fire*.

  2. Is there any more information on this? Was starstreak used much?

It’s a fascinating weapon, not like any other anti air, but doesn’t seem to be much actual combat use.

I’m really interested in the claims that it’s immune to all countermeasures.

  3. it’s the only video I’ve ever seen of it being used – what happened to them?

  4. Starstreak, absolute piece of pure sex.

    That and Brimstone missiles.

  5. When the helicopter pilot sees the tail rotor coming into view, he probably knows he’s screwed.

  6. I got a piece of a downed MI-28 from the early war from my donation to Ukraine.

I wonder if it’s that one

  7. Is that survivable for the crew? Body of the helicopter is going to start rotating without the tail, but I don’t know whether a good pilot could still bring it down at least non-catastrophically using autorotation. Assuming the control linkages were all still functioning.

It does look like it came down pretty fast in this instance, and that might have been something of a cloud of smoke at the end, so maybe not for this one.

  8. The sound of the sonic boom vs the sound of the detonation really shows how balls to the wall that missile is going.
