Plus I wouldn’t mind a few more forests to hike around.
There’s over 400 trees per person on earth, I’m sure Wales will cope.
Bit of a non-story. Trees need to be planted, but the right ones in the right place in order to have the most benefit.
Rewilding by just leaving land alone is probably a better answer than actively planting trees. That way you tend to get mixed deciduous woods.
new trees do nothing compared to the old trees you chopped down
Who’s doing uncontrolled planting anyway? Everything I’ve seen is being advised by experts
Change the landscape certainly, not necessarily harm it. If those forests are being planted as true offset it should be broadleaf forest left for a good few hundred years, if we are planting fast growing coniferous commercial species that will be ready for harvesting in a few short years then maybe its just another business opportunity.
Its the latter we have seen in the past, and few people will deny that massive Sitka spruce plantations are damaging as well as being pretty unpleasing on the eye.
